There seems to be a lot of misunderstanding about how the US and the UK got involved in supporting Ukraine. Unfortunately, they had little choice in this matter, despite desperately trying to avoid their obligations. Under the Massandra Accord of 1994 the US and the UK (and Russia!) have hadto come to Ukraine's aid if they are invaded. Even though they are not part of NATO. Back in 1994 relations between Russia and the West were at an all-time high and this undertaking was given in return for Ukraine handing over all its big nuclear arsenal to Russia. Following the invasion of Crimea and Eastern Ukraine by Russia, both the US and the UK tried desperately not to get involved and relied on the United Nations to carry out their job of keeping the peace. Following concerns when Russian troops amassed on Ukraine's borders the U N sought assurances from Russia and was told Russia had no intention of invading. But then invaded 48 hours later hoping for a quick victory before the US and the UK could get involved. Unfortunately, Ukraine showed no signs of an early surrender, which put the US and the UK on the back foot. And forced them to get involved. Both governments argued that they could discharge their legal obligations by only supplying financial aid and weapons to pacify Congress and Parliament. If you invade and attack a country, you should not be surprised when they object and fight back and call on aid from their allies, especially if you have blatantly lied to the UN about your intentions 48 hours before invading.! For some reason, despite Ukraine's pleas, both the US and the UK made it conditional that they refrain from taking out military targets like missile bases in Russia, which has hampered their success in the war. They have effectively been fighting with one arm tied behind their back. Quite sensibly, both the US and the UK have now withdrawn this restriction. They should have done this months ago. The majority of people around the world agree with America's (and UK''s) decision to now allow Ukraine to attack missile depots and other military targets in Russia. Full credit to Joe Biden for making this happen. This decision is common sense and not an escalation. Merely an option for Ukraine to better defend itself. To say the US and UK are waging war on Russia is pure propaganda nonsense. Russia knew their obligations under The Massandra Accord. They were actually a signatory to it.

Cope von Copium, ... Trump is looking for a way out of this mess for the American taxpayer for the last two years. Ukraine will likely get one opportunity to take a deal, or be cast adrift.

I’m a US taxpayer. I have no problem spending 10% of our annual military budget on securing democracy and crippling one of our biggest geopolitical rivals…

@@razorramon780 Thankfully the majority of US taxpayers think otherwise, voted for change, and like the operation in Iraq in 2003, recognise that the wider geopolitical implications for supporting a non NATO, non EU member like Ukraine is just not worth it in the long run. Especially in terms of growing the military alliance between the Russian Federation and China, Iran and North Korea. Expanding the BRICS community, to now include Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Egypt, and now Turkey. Increase the risk to US, UK and NATO troops in future conflicts, more than likely an end to the START treatys, the certain proliferation of nuclear weapons technology, and sophisticated delivery systems going forward. Its pretty much a disaster anyway you cut it.
