The Independence movement in Scotland is a 'broad church' of many different groups of people. Polls suggest that support for Independence is still running at 50% & has stayed at this level for quite some time. A material change in circumstances occurred in 2016 when Scotland was pulled out of the EU against it's will. Hence the reason why there should be another Independence Referendum. What a load of old nonsense. The SNP losing its distorted (by FPTP) majority in Westminster would be a setback for them but a very minor one. It's the majority in Holyrood that matters and all polls show that they would remain the largest party there by far. Meanwhile, the proportion of people wanting Independence continues to edge slowly upwards as demography literally kills off British Nationalist support and more pro-self-determination voters come of age. A Starmer government will nurture rather than hinder the march of independence, by the way. The soft No voters are those who think that the travails we are now experiencing are down to Tory incompetence and wickedness. Starmer is continuity Tory and it will quickly become apparent that it is the so-called Union which is the problem, not the party in charge of it.

It's costly and expensive to run referendums all the time. No stability. If Scotland wants independence then the polls should show 60% wanting it and then people should keep voting SNP and they will get another referendum. It will cost everyone in the UK a lot of money should the vote go in favour. I agree that Westminster is doing a lousy job preparing for something that seems inevitable. England should be building nuclear power stations and scrap the Barnett system as it pays English taxpayers much less than Scottish. Totally unfair. The nuclear weapons should also have moved to Cumbria.

That minority is 43% and a minority does not follow being ignored and will not be. Righty so. Seeking independence is not bad many countries have achieved it, fought for it some smaller than Scotland. None who achieved independence would ever want to give it up. Labour has.this GE 2024 in the bag. However the next GE if Labour does not listen to the Scots the Scots will boot them out as did 17 years ago. As for the Tories the Scots have not voted for them since 1955... Now that follows Scotland its citizens have endured both Tories and Labour that follows SNP back stronger than ever as will the want for independence and the ability to join the EU. Both latter are strong wants and not going to go away. Now Ireland and N Ireland could join as one and Wales are not happy at all. The union of the UK 5 years from now come that GE certainly will be far different then this one. Your NO for independence has no more value than the Scots who voted YES. And your NO vote does not make you more Scottish than those who vote YES. The unionist voices are well heard. Tories are unionist, Labour are unionist, Lib Dem are unionist and the media and press are unionist so well heard. It is the YES voice that is not heard but those that vote YES make sure it is and that will not disappear.. Tick tock time is the factor not 2024 As for Andrew Neil Mr GBN will take no lectures from him. I agree with you, your words the Scots have certainly pulled their weight.. The best thing about the SNP is that it represents the people of Scotland in Westminster and long may it continue. It was the same a few years ago with the EU and before Brexit, Britain had a representation in the EU, protecting the UK’s interests. The thing is that Scotland can leave the UK in the future is circumstance change whilst Britain cannot decide anything regarding the EU because it has already left the EU due to Brexit. In other words Brexit was madness and also the greatest con inflicted on a Nation since Germany 1933…
