Where did you find that figure? L118 light gun. 105mm towed artillery - this equips five artillery regiments. Each regiment will have approx 24 guns. AS-90 155mm SPH we have about 60 of these equipping two regiments. These are beginning to be replaced by the RCH 155M version of the which can be mounted onto the Boxer vehicle when required. Archer 155mm SPH. There were 14 purchased to serve as an interim solution to cover the transfer of 32 AS-90's to Ukraine in 2023. Not sure if further order will be made as although this is one of the most effective gun and carriage combos available it is also extortionately expensive apparently. M270 Multiple Launch Rocket System there are currently 29 of them in service with 40 or so more arriving by 2029. These will equip 3 arty regts. Of course I have no knowledge of any further cuts to be made or even additional equipment to be purchased so the figures above are possibly not 100% accurate but no matter how you wish to play with the figures it's substantially higher than you would have others believe. I understand UK is also looking to order a number of 120mm mounted mortars but that could be wild speculation and rumour. Having said all of this, these figure are abysmally inadequate should we find ourselves in a divisional size deployment to the likes of Ukraine and there does not seem to be any great rush by our politicians and bean counters to rectify the shortages in ammo let alone the shortage in tubes to deliver that ammo. Our politicians of all parties have since 1946 continuously cut our armed forces to the bone in order to buy social programmes to make the section of the populace who continuously want something free from the government in exchange for their next vote. Ultimately it's we the population having unrealistic expectations and yet a credible defence in an ever more insecure world and not wanting to pay for it who are to blame. Something for nothing seems to rule all decisions made in this country and there may yet come a time we will have to pay the price for that folly.

At present, our defence spending assumes that the nuclear forces provide a deterrent to both nuclear and conventional attack. They don’t; nuclear weapons only deter nuclear attack. Trump must insist that our defence budget must be five percent on conventional forces with nuclear in addition. Our conventional forces must alone be able to deter conventional attack.

Doubtless an unpopular opinion - but the medical sector is disgracefully wasteful and should be reviewed and overhauled. This applies not just in the UK but practically everywhere. They focus on treating symptoms instead of curing root causes. This is encouraged by the pharma companies of course because in their world view a patient cured is a customer lost. They're still spouting the wrong dietary advice which also pushes people into eating the wrong things. The obesity and diabetes epidemics will be tough to fix but could take millions of patients off harmful meds and out of hospitals. It requires a massive education campaign to make a shift to cut down sugars and starches and highly processed junk foods. Cutting the medicine bills and improving health outcomes is one obvious source of savings in the mid to long term. Seeing reports of water company waste and underperformance there's clearly something to be dealt with there. Sounds like the privatisations of the 80s and 90s didn't get done on the right terms.

The UK specifically needs to increase its Army to 250,000 troops and focus its Naval. How? The UK should turn over all Pacific and Indian Ocean Island possessions to Australia, New Zealand, or the US. The UK Naval focus would on the Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean and Mediterranean Seas. The Army currently has 25,000 Reservists. It should increase this by adding 125,000 more. Adding mostly part time soldiers will lessen the cost while pumping money into many local economies. Even with pensions after 20 years payable at age 60, the savings over full time troops is about 75%.

We are led by Morons. They cant see the war coming. Poland and the baltic states and Finland can. Social programs wont do a thing when the nukes drop or conventional war takes place. Take care M.

Right now Denmark is shoring up its defense in case of a US incursion. I suggest Article 5 be amended to protect from within.
@elenadunn158 күн бұрын
Denmark has called on the EU and NATO not to respond to US President Donald Trump's threats to take control of Greenland, and they have "taken a vow of silence". Copenhagen has closely coordinated with Brussels a strategy to avoid a public confrontation with Trump, underscoring US allies' attempt to cope with the Republican's aggressive diplomacy (c) Financial Times I suggest that the Danish authorities buy a truckload of K-Y. This will further "underscore the US allies' attempt to cope with Trump's aggressive diplomacy."

The USA can just pull back from Europe and leave it to Putin. The manpower and equipment from the USA is the only thing preventing war. In fact it has already started with the cutting of undersea cables. In Europe not in the USA. Take care M.
@elenadunn158 күн бұрын
@@markeh1971 Two points: 1. A few days ago, Finland already confirmed that there was no "cutting of cables". 2. Why do you think Russia would want EU paupers?!!! So it can supply it with cheap energy, feed it, develop its industry, and sort out its education and medical care mess? No, no! Don't even dream of it!

Why people that talk on this panel never get challenge why should Europe pay for American private wars Russia has long opposed NATO's eastward expansion, viewing it as a threat to its sphere of influence. Ukraine’s aspirations to join NATO and strengthen ties with the European Union have heightened Russia’s fears of losing influence over its neighbor.
