She uses the term men when referring to abuse of power, and inappropriate behaviour. She should say women so as not to be sexist. I remember a man interviewed on Women’s Hour saying he had been touched up by a female colleague. Jenny Murray made fun of him, saying “You poor thing, you should have enjoyed it” or words to that effect. Woman can behave in an appalling manner. I’ve experienced aggression from numerous female colleagues, often passive aggression, making the workplace unbearable. So, cut the sexism please.
@andrewcalladine25074 сағат бұрын
But the reality is in most cases it is men abusing their power over women and girls. While it does happen the other way with women over some men. It is not a 50:50 split.
@StillAliveAndKicking_3 сағат бұрын
@ You’re right, but could that be because men are more often in positions of power? One of the worst bullies I’ve met was a female director. Another was a female office manager. As regards colleagues, I’ve found women to be worse. This is in engineering. But look at identity politics activists, both genders are engaged in abusive behaviour.

My 17 year daughter is on a mechanics course at college. My daughter has not been brought up weak and to give as good as she gets in a fun way. She comes home laughing every day, she's having a brilliant time. Some of these women today would have a heart attack if they were on my daughter's course because they take things so seriously. Everyone including the tutors get on brilliantly and there is none of that woke cr*p, thank goodness

The people I know that have crossed paths with Wallace have all said the same thing… loud, crass, obnoxious and worth avoiding.
@Steve-Cross5 сағат бұрын
I think Greg Wallace is probably a man of his time and upbringing. There was a time, when misogyny was acceptable. I’m not sure how old he is, but I am 65 and remember those days. I grew up in the 60s and 70s when it was rife. You’ve only got to watch a few of the old TV shows, and movies of that time. 🙂

He has been alive through the last 30 or 40 years though - did he live with his eyes and ears closed? Many people have been "brought up" one way or the other and yet keep on growing or rather evolving past their teenage years. I find that a very thin layered excuse for behaviours like that.

We cannot compare Wallace with Saville or Edwards. If the guy has harassed some of the staff, contestants then he should be disciplined. Telling a few crude jokes or having some banter is not a sacking offence.
@paull9992 сағат бұрын
It’s part of a society that normalises this type of behaviour. Obviously it’s nothing like Saville but comparing it sounds like you are trying to normalise his behaviour which should still be unacceptable.

It's not just men abusing their power it's just about everyone with power arbitrarily allotted to them rather than earnt by their talent and efforts. Granted the majority of abusers are men, but to use that identifier mischaracterises the situation and pushes the listener into misidentifying the group responsible for causing problematic issues. Namely, the undeservingly powerful... Which is more or less the entirety of the UK at the moment. Small wonder the presenter and the interviewee had little interest in raising the subject of unearnt power? We are led by entitled morons and clowns and it's only getting worse. Too many chickens coming home to roost at the same time.. it's like watching a car crash in very very slow motion

We just happen to know one of the Professional Master Chef more recent contestants (did very well). His view of Greg was that he was a really nice guy who seemed to genuinely care about the contestants. He made sure to have quiet words with some of the clearly upset contestants. BUT….his humour was “ribald” and could understand why many, and women especially, would find his humour surprising and upsetting in a professional environment.
