My goodness that brings back memories for I used to go out on building sites , construction sites at the weekends and earn three quid working for my dad. I officially started my apprenticeship 1980. Must’ve been 75 maybe 1976. Great times.

I learnt to drive on one of those in the very late 60s. It could do with the idle speed picked up a little. Open the fuel rack past the running position for cold start by lifting the hinged block/bolt. Also you can give the lever that you stop it with (next to fuel pump) a few priming pumps. Good video lads, takes me back over 50 years.

Hi! I would like to ask dont you have a technical description or manual about this dumper? My friend has this type of dumper (Benford OPP/SWING), but he cannot use it, because in hungary we need the technical description/ manual for the exam. I am not an expert about dumpers, i just try to help to my friend. If you have any technical description or manual we would appreciate if you would send me a copy about it. Of course we would pay for it. Thank you!

It might be to late, but in your other video the fuel pump rack spring was disconnected from the governor arm. That's your hard starting because its not going on to full fuel and why when you blip the throttle it doesn't rev much. Put the spring on and it will start better and fly along. Good luck, P. S if an adult has disconnected it to stop you speeding I didn't tell you 😉

@@indianajames4168 it looks like the spring is on it, just needs clipping on, should be a little hole in the governor arm. When you hook it up as you press the throttle you will see the pump rack get pulled out the pump.

Brought back memories. In the mid to late 1980s my friend and I had access to one of these and while not supposed to we would get the handle and try and start it, one would crank and the other move the compression lever. unfortuantely, we were not strong enough and we only ever managed to get it on the cusp of starting and some smoke, then shattered, we would eventially put the handle back in it's hiding place and do something else.

@@chrisbond8821 The company name might be both but the engines are individual - one or the other. I think the big question is - which do you prefer ? Anything but Hatz ;) I've sat pondering my question expecting to say Petter - and I will - on the grounds that the governor can't be overridden by normal controls - having had to modify accelerator linkage on a Lister to allow the governor to work to stop it stalling at junctions !
