A fun fact about Franz Liszt's Piano Concerto No. 2 is that it was composed nearly three decades before it was actually published and performed in its final form. Liszt initially wrote the concerto in 1839-1840 but set it aside for many years. He revisited and revised the concerto multiple times, finally completing the version that is commonly performed today in 1861. During this extended period of revision, Liszt's compositional style evolved significantly. The concerto reflects his transformation from a virtuoso pianist-composer to a more mature and forward-thinking composer, blending innovative harmonic and structural elements into the piece. This evolution in his style is evident in the Piano Concerto No. 2's complex and richly textured composition, making it a fascinating work to study and enjoy.

Liszt's Piano Concerto #2 is a brilliant masterpiece, and I personally love this performance of it the best after hearing numerous others. Liszt's piano concertos truly laid down the Romantic template for others to build upon, including Tchaikovsky, Saint-Saens, Grieg, Rachmaninov etc. As they say, Liszt hurled his lance into the future!

I hope it is not too bold of offensive of my part to make some suggestions. I would absolutely love to see Chopin's Variations on "Là ci darem la mano" op. 2! Specifically because it is the only orchestral piece by Chopin that you haven't covere yet.
