Thank you. In my opinion, there cannot be a definitive reading of Liszt's B minor but this is definitely Trifonov's best performance.

I agree with you, as it comes to a classical performance, it's only a matter of taste :)

Was this live?? He plays it on a way I never heard it before... His voicing is unique in this one... Very creative interpetration by Trifonov especially in 1:58 first time I see accent in this passage!!! Very interisting at all... the use of pedal is mesmerizing aswell.

Ok Trifonov is great, same with Argerich, Zimmerman, and Grynyuk, but have y'all heard Horowitz?

Horowitz is… kinda messy. but still amazing sound and interpretation

"It contains a unique variety of colors and expression from intense Fortissimo to gentle pianissimos" lmao, as opposed to other romantic music?

It’s decent... is it Zimerman or Grynyuk? I don’t think so... that’s my opinion

Yet again, another unpolished, unrefined playing of Trifonov. He, very often, tends to rush at the most bizzare tempo, which ruins the overall structure of the piece. I don't think he has the depth to truly capture the profoundness of this masterpiece. My ears just can't bear listening to this after listening to argerich's.

Strong take. I beg to differ. Only about 5 minutes in and I believe this relatively newer tempo breathes fresh air into the piece. Not to mention, his extremely refined playing and superb dynamics bring all of the little nuances out that separate him from other pianists.

For example, take the voicing of the chords he plays at around 10:45 -- first the top line, then the middle line, then the bottom. Brilliant interpretation.

@@polotrav3439 Zimmerman does the same. Here trifonov as some interesting stylistic choices and obviously his technique is incredible, but overall he lacks direction and imo (as the OP says) chooses tempo that he can’t keep up with and then necessarily slows down. Also in certain places he just misses the emotion for me (even say the first transition to the d major grandioso, I hardly feel the build up)
