Der ghanaische Autor Kobby Ben Ben (*1995 in Accra) stellt im Gespräch mit Co-Kurator Seth Avusuglo und in Kurzlesungen seinen Debütroman «No One Dies Yet» (2023) vor. Gemeinsam schlendern sie durch Jamestown, eines der ältesten und belebtesten Quartiere Accras sowie ein Schauplatz des Romans und der queeren Underground-Szene. Zwischen dem Leuchtturm, einem Wahrzeichen von Accra, den geschäftigen Strassen und dem noch schlafenden Nachtleben sprechen sie über das «Year of Return» - eine Aktion der Regierung im Jahr 2019, welche die «Rückkehr» von Menschen aus der Diaspora nach Ghana förderte - sowie über die allgegenwärtige Frage des Wegziehens oder Bleibens.

Ghanaian author Kobby Ben Ben (b. 1995 in Accra) presents his debut novel “No One Dies Yet” (2023) in conversation with co-curator Seth Avusuglo and in short readings. Together they stroll through Jamestown, one of Accra’s oldest and liveliest neighbourhoods and one of the settings for the novel and the queer underground scene. Between the lighthouse, a landmark of Accra, the busy streets and the still dormant nightlife, they talk about the “Year of Return” - a government campaign in 2019 that promoted the “return” of people from the diaspora to Ghana - as well as the omnipresent question of moving away or staying.
