Just going off what I noticed while editing, I have a very strong feeling that the dub was done remotely. I feel like there WAS no voice director (at least for Aoba and possibly Noiz), it honestly sounds like all of his lines were recorded at once in a string (hence the very unemotive lines and weird grunts) his voice clips have audible background noise and are much louder than most characters, which makes me think he must not have been in the (same) studio. Most of the voice actors I recognize from the Clannad dub, so I'm wondering if there's some reason behind that. Seems incredibly weird that the casts would be so similar considering the time between the two. Edit: Voice director is Greg Ayres' (Clear's VA) brother; I'm convinced that he was the only one given direction, lmao

The ADV Director was indeed Chris Ayres, (brother to Greg Ayres). I sometimes wonder what really went through the late VA/ADVD's head when it came to the dub, like how much did he or anyone involved with the show was familiar with Visual Novel. At the time, it grew in popularity because a small group of people translated the visual novel, word for word, with a few fan exceptions like someone butchered most of Mink's lines cuz they hated him. At first, I thought Chris took what he could get from the Japanese dub, until the final episode when Mink's Allmate who's data is in Mink's Motorbike shows up to save Aoba. Aoba acknowledged that it was Mink's Allmate but in the English dub, Aoba called him Huracan-so they must have take cues from the Visual Novel, but the question is, how much did they take? Chris had passed away 6 months after JAST Blue released the game in English-he was very sick with COPD, but since it seems like the dubbing was some fever dream, I now wonder if any of the actors (like David Wald, who played Ren in English) have seen played the "official" game...

well the original audio of this anime is still very much faithful to the source material, but yea it would appear things on the english vocalization didnt go so well but this could be due to the actors not having a good vocal coach or not being given context on what the characters are supposed to act like etc but it could also be their agent's faults as well for not doing proper research into the game this anime was born from an explaining to them that its a romance series directed at a female audience and meant to be homoerotic in nature.
