I guess this episode answered my question about how rice became main food of South East Asia countries and became more popular than sticky rice.

I don't agree with him about everyone used to eat sticky rice in SEA and this is his opinion by the way and there is no evidence to back him up.. For us Lao living in the USA and we still eat sticky rice. It is our staple that goes with our cuisine. Would I eat papaya salad , larp, goi, grill and many other Lao dishes with regular white rice I would say he'll no unless I am out of sticky rice. He got this wrong and also about Lao people don't eat spicy. Who eat chilly sauce with sticky rice in the morning like Lao people do? That's answered it right there.

I would add fish as well. When you think about it. People in Southeast Asia would mainly eat fish, rice and fruits. Peppers and Papaya aren't natives in Southeast asia since that is brought by the Spanish-Portuguese.
