I wanted to really thank you for these videos about lithium. I’m just about to start taking it under prescription and, even if my doctor really tried to warn me about the possible toxicity and side effects, I wanted to make sure I understood how the med works and all the do’s and don’ts about it. I think I’m all good to start, outside asking about some new possible treatment for my headaches thanks to another one of these videos of yours. Also, English isn’t my first language but everything is still explained so well, even if it’s about something I didn’t completely understand already it was so easy to follow through. You did a great job and I’m thankful I’ve found the channel.

There is another reaction to long term lithium intake. Many people find their teeth are gradually deteriorating. This is not widely known, yet, but it is real.

Yes. My teeth started disintegrating and I only took lithium for about five and a half years. That was all it took. They literally started crumbling. I now have no molars left. And the other damage that lithium did to my brain and body is beyond repair. Lithium is a drug that should be outlawed. The most dangerous psychiatric drug in existence possibly. I find it amazing and outrageous that lithium used to be put in the soft drink 7Up but it was outlawed many decades ago because of the dangers. I believe people died from over consumption of it.And yet they still allow it to be prescribed in much higher doses by psychiatrists. Outrageous, absurd and criminal.

Thank you for this video, I was recently put on lithium but was concerned because the facility that did has performed no testing in two weeks, and am experiencing some of the symptoms (confusion, agitation) you mentioned, as well as feeling cold all the time. Are there ways to get tested as a patient that travels constantly for work and has no access to a PCP? Edit: I also am extremely sensitive to salt and avoid most foods containing it.

There is NO safe level for lithium. They say there is a "narrow range" but that is not true. There is absolutely no safe level.Serum blood levels of lithium mean nothing because the serum blood level can be low and it can be quite high intracellularly. So those periodic tests that psychiatrists give their patients for serum blood levels mean nothing. You can be toxic on lithium for years and it won't show up on those blood serum level tests.
