I am an importer and pack assembler here in India. Raw cell prices have dropped hard in recent months. Some makers have reduced price by upto 70%. But those making battery packs haven't reduced prices that much and so pocketing in huge profits. Cbak 15ah cells are less than a $ in bulk. 4-5months ago they were 3$ ea. So 100$ for 12v 100ah should be the normal price and anyone selling these for 300-400 is making huge huge profits.

If they sealed the battery before the solvent in the thermal paste had fully evaporated, then the air inside would be saturated with solvent, which would explain the smell, and it wouldn't dry for a very long time. However, even if still tacky, the paste should still work as long as they're not using it as a glue.

@@JunitafluxcyfatriciaJunita They still make a profit, for sure. Part of the reason why they can sell cheaper than US companies is that products purchased from overseas companies selling on marketplace platforms are duty free. The current US de minimus rules allow consumers to import many products from overseas companies valued under $600 directly to US consumers for personal use, legally skirting duties and tariffs. This will change soon with new de minimus rules recently announced to be implemented in 2025.

We can equate cycle life with price. As you say, cell cycle life is 2000 @ $99 This equals cell cycle life of 3000 @ $150 So are they cheaper ? Not really. And if we compare quality of components and features it very quickly falls behind in value. However, the fact that you can build 10kwh battery bank at 24v for $800 is insane, or 20kwh at 48v for $1600. Would I trust my critical loads to a. Usher setup? Perhaps not. But as long as they work, it’s a lot of energy storage for very little money. Like buy a EF Delta pro 3 and connect this to the solar input to increase your capacity. Have you ever used two large battery banks at 48v and then use a combiner box to feed into a solar generator? O.S. It’s now $136

These batteries couldn't handle the continuous high heat under the hood of the car, and if the BMS suddenly disconnected, your alternator would be ruined... The Alternator needs to see a load.

Don't do it it's not worth the hassles, lead acid will easily outlast this thing x3

@@neiliewheeliebin *When used in the application of being a primary starting battery for a ICE vehicle, yes, it would outlast a lifepo4 similar to the one in this video, but mainly because most vehicles currently sold do not have electrical systems designed for this battery chemistry. There are a few luxury vehicle brands that do have electrical systems designed for primary battery consisting of a 4s lifepo4 high C/rate battery. And in those vehicles, they outlast lead-acid by many times the normal life of a lead acid primary vehicle starting battery.

i'll keep waiting until under $100 is the norm. the total cycles is the most important spec, and one that takes time to verify. if these die in a year, they're overpriced even at $99.

Nevermind quality of the cells. At some point these will no longer work once the internal electronics go bad.

Makes perfect sense for the temperature sensor but no idea why they would put it on battery terminals or BMS connectors.

How about a real tear down and test. What are the individual cell voltages? How about under load? Checking for drift under load and charge would be more useful information than anything else. Then Separating the cells and checking the individual internal resistance would give an idea of what grade the cells are. Certainly not grade a for the price. If the pack is unbalanced it will not last. This looks to be more of a paid commercial than an actual test/review.

I think it will be the lower cycle life that gets you here. I need to try and obtain a datasheet for this exact cell so I can prove one way or the other. Great Power have been notoriously low-budget cells with a reduced cycle count.

Sorry if that was confusing. The manufacturer makes the following claims: 6000 cycles at 80% DOD (manual), 4000 cycles at 100% DOD (Amazon listing), and 15,000 cycles 60% DOD (Amazon listing). I am stating my opinion that I believe the cells to be good for 2000 cycles at 100% DOD based on experience and similar model datasheets.
