A few years before starting his KZbin channel (‪@woltersworld‬) Mark was living in Lithuania. He’s been back a few times since, and over the years, he’s made some great videos offering travelers solid advice on how to make the most of their time in this amazing Baltic nation.
So, I was ABSOLUTELY THRILLED when Mark was willing to make a guest appearance in one of my videos. I was quite keen to learn how and why he ended up living in Lithuania in the first place - and also get his opinions on certain aspects of Lithuanian life.

I have a similar story, I went to Lietuva fifteen years ago while on a trip by train through Europe. I was supposed to stay there just a couple of days and after just one day I decided that I wanted to stay longer. As soon as I went down the train and walked few minutes around I met a group of people in the streets they were celebrating the end of a construction job. I was looking for someone to ask where my hotel was and when I tried to ask the question they said put your bags down will help you but first have a party with us. They offered me drinks and food. We talked we laughed and when the party was over they took me to my hotel.... It was such a memorable time and experience. I woke up the next morning and said to myself I don't want to go I want to know this place and those people. I ended up staying for 3-weeks and went home after spending maybe the best time of my life.. once home I couldn't forget Lithuania, I quit my job and went back living there for a year and half. I since then went back many times.... I love Lietuva and the Lithuanians.... As uz lietuva

Mark was one of the first foreigners on YT who talked about his experience in LT. I really liked how he presented my country in a positive way. I hope Mark's experience with learning Lithuanian inspires you to embrace the learning more. I think it would be beneficial for your channel if Mark mentioned you on his... Sėkmės!

Mark is the type of a foreigner that Lithuanians like: friendly, happy, interested in local culture and cuisine, and not thinking of himself as a better human just because he's coming from the West. I can't see him not fitting in in Lithuania.

As a Lithuanian, I'm super appreciative for the work you do in bringing a spotlight to a tiny country such as ours. Despite the many issues Lithuania has, it's amazing to see someone, especially a non-Lithuanian like you or Mark, research, explain and educate more people on our tiny country. Didėlis ačiū už tavo pastangas. Tikiuosi nepasiduosi mokantis lietuvių kalbos, smagu matyt kaip tobulėji su kiekvienu video. Taip ir toliau!

Thank you for the video clip of Lithuania... A beautiful country - I has just visited for 3 days during 17-19 June. Trakai is so peaceful and I love to see many beautiful old (but very very cosy and beautiful) wooden house. Quite interested in retirement in Lithuania, really. I am planing to visit Lithuania again next year for one week or more. Best Wishes from Stockholm - Sweden

Iranian and I have MAD respect for Lithuania for standing up to China and supporting Taiwan. We here in Asia are tied up to them and they dictate for us as if we don't get enough of that with our own regime. It's nice to see a nation stand up to a global bully. Thanks for taking one for the whole planet!

I've seen Mark's videos a while ago. Very interesting fella, very energetic and when he talks he seems like he truly enjoys life. 😄 I'd also follow up on your point about making videos that are more basic without all the fancy stuff. Both are cool, but the videos with all these stock imagery and drone shots and whatnot are great for folks who just want a quick 10 minute introduction about a country while videos you & Mark make are more personal and in-depth which does a better job at portraying what life in a country is like for a regular person. So keep doing what you doing. 💪

Dosnus - tai tas, kas mėgsta kam nors ką nors duoti ir dažnai ką nors kam nors duoda. You are right, dosnus means generous, but what’s in the Lithuanian word? Dosnus is a person (or a bush, earth or tree) who (or which) likes to give something to someone, and who (which) tends to do that often.

As a black male, solo traveller - I found Lithuania to be very pleasant. It’s tough sticking out, but I found Lithuanians didn’t care - in a good way! I had people stare and take photos in Latvia; but Lithuania was nice. The people were nice and helpful. The beers were good…the food - not the greatest. But I would definitely recommend and would visit again. Get out the city centre and enjoy the nature!

Nothing better for me like a black hommie in Lithuania :D we're not that kind of people who see a black man and stare at him like he's from the moon :D In Kaunas we have a lot of erasmus students which ar black and even i have some people who are living in my neighborhood which is really old part of my town who rent apartaments here and i see black people from time to time in my local shop... I mean it's just normal for me as to see a white man there is nothing really fucking nothing different about people black or white, i just look at a black man and im like i wish i could have friend like that because it's so awesome to see you people here!!! Hommies ! The more of you here the better, yes babushkas can be annoying sometimes but let's be clear here. Have you ever approached normal looking not gopnik stranger that does not speak atleast basic english? I bet you've never experienced that :D If my comment looks rasist in any way - it was not meant to. I just had some wodka and some good old smokey "sausage" this evening. I love black people i love and i wish to see them more and more in Lithuania and in Kaunas. I even sold a android controller for some dude in erasmus that was black and he was really like i don't know how to word it .. ashamed or maybe not pleasant or i don't know just like he didn't wanted to interact with me too much but as i saw him i was like - wassup hommie ! And he was like with biggest smile on his face and we had a nice chat i showd him how to use the controller and i told him how much we appreciate him that he's studing here in Kaunas and it was really nice interaction :)

There is Lithuanian flag and there is Bolivian flag, Two separate things its upside down and bolivian flag has it's hearb in there. Lithuanian flag means Yellow - Sun, Green - Land/Grass, Red is Blood. I dont know what Bolivian flag means but it's two different things. Also there is "like real" lithuanian flag yelllow/green/red in some other country but i think with some kind of hearb also

It's easy to love Lithuania if you have a middle class Western salary. These days, it's a neofeudal society. Only the top 5-10% of income earners live to Western European standards. The gentrification of Vilnius and Kaunas has created a existential housing and cost of living crisis. 15% increase in real estate prices nationally just last year, it's a cancerous mix of FDI and a oligarch class with nothing else to invest in locally. Consumer prices are as high as Western Europe or higher, with 1/3 or 1/5 the salary As we say, Polish salaries with German prices. 25% of the population has emigrated in the last generation, and it is not stopping. It is the second quickest shrinking country on Earth. We are not really doing well, but we have extreme neoliberal dogma in our politics so we are not allowed to even question our neofeudal state, or the nepotism flaunting political and business class, without being called a vatnik or communist.

Nah bruv, you are talking rubbish. I dont even dare to call you vatnik... I earn just about the average lithuanian wage and I still managed to buy the apartment in Vilnius, I own a car, twice a year I leave for a short vacations, I can afford city breaks in Europe...
