I am desperately in love with this band. Not only does it sound beautiful at first listen, these lyrics address pressing social issues mean so much and have a gorgeous and aching relevance. Truly truly moving.

This song is deeper than the ocean, truer than the Word and infinitely better than anything I have ever listened to.

I work at a non-commercial radio station, and we play "underground" bands like this, but we play them because we want people to know about them. Not all "hipsters" want the good music to stay hidden.

The drum sounds were made with a washing machine door and a bin lid. Amazing.

So he offers her his coat In return for her devotion For he loves her like a boat That he keeps out on the ocean He says: "I'll tell you lover That I don't need no other's arms at all" And as he fixes her a look All the innocence that she mistook for charm Dies in the vacuum of his startling deep emotion There's violence out tonight There's violence out tonight There's violence out tonight, tonight There's violence out tonight As they step into the dark Only moonlight hides his treason And the shadows skip like sharks Through the gasps of air between them She says: “Becalm your hands boy I thought restraint was now your sentiment of choice?†But as his fingers strike her blouse All the words that he espoused Lie deftly scattered on the ground amidst the buttons he's torn open There's violence out tonight There's violence out tonight, tonight In every room, in every heart In every moment you discard There's violence out tonight, tonight So she stalks the stolid streets debased A tepid flickering of street-lights wipes the grief Across her face Since she wears upon her brow The ragged gape of alienation That will follow her around And like for every victim It seems the pain will not subtract or even calm All this protracted by a state In which the poor conviction rate for rape Can often leave a woman feeling More at blame than able To talk about violence tonight To talk about violence tonight, tonight In every moment, every room In every word that you consume In every second, every chance In every twisting of romance In every momentary embrace In every movement of your face Is violence out tonight, tonight Tell me something I don't know Tell me something I can be proud of Tell me something I don't know

hipsters arent people who enjoy amazing music like this. they are people who belittle others for not knowing the bands they do, they also would rather see a band stay hidden and known by a few then flourish in the open and be adored by as many as possible.

Remember when I saw these at a local venue with Catfish supporting in 2014, had a bev and chat with Van from Catfish&Bottlemen (was their first tour out of Wales as a band) and now they're playing major uk festivals and these guys have only just passed 100k views. Pure madness haha but both bands play fucking sick live but I reckon Comets are a lot more artful and original, but just my opinion. Respect from Stoke, hope yous are doing alright

This music is very unique and individual and still really good

I know. I hate grabbing a friends Ipod to see a million bands and every single one has just one fucking song! Good music is when you can listen to an album from front to back and not hate a single song. Some may have to grow on you, but some times those end up being your favorite song! It's an amazing relationship to have and one that so many people miss out on. It's sad.

I'm not calling myself a hipster in any way, but when Alt-J won the mercury prize I was so pissed off because I knew them long before then but I knew from then everyone would, and that ruined a personal link i had with them.

I know how to play this song on guitar and drums aswell
@metskydiver170211 жыл бұрын
Not sure how that would ruin a 'personal link' with them, but you don't have to admit to being a hipster to be one ;)

And four months later, indie music is now associated with hipsters. Sucks to be us.

its indie, not hipster

Hipsters are also some of the least individualist people in this world. All you have to do in order to be a Hipster is wear nerd glasses and shop at thrift stores or Urban Outfitters. Gosh, I hate how so much good music is now associated with being a Hipster. I mean, come on - How about being an induvidual?
@OMGitsAmyfreakinP11 жыл бұрын
Can we all please stop discussing "hipsters" and enjoy some actually good music
