Little baby Bonobo Lola with her big smile. Holding on to mum Likemba, but always having a look at what's going on around her.
Another family member gives Lola a few soft slaps when she's wiggling in the grass. She gets up and touches the slapped parts with her mouth open. Like she's saying ouch that hurt, but a second later, "Nope nobody watching, I can stop pretending that it hurts. " It wasn't that bad. lol
Later back in Mum's arms, yawning time for a nap.
Lola was born on Sat 3rd August 2019 and she was named after the Lola ya Bonobo (‘Paradise for bonobos’ in Lingala) the world’s only sanctuary for orphaned bonobos. Her mum is the 9-year old Likemba. She came to Twycross in early 2019.

Oh poor baby:) Very smart to pretend she hurts. Mom will soften the pain. She knows it. 👍😊🎀

Thank you Tiffany. I'm glad they aren't too far away from the gorillas. So I can pop over quickly to see little Lola when the " gorilla rascals" gone inside. 😁 I can't wait to see her exploring more. All good this end, hopefully at your end as well.

@@SloggerVlogger Also doing well on my end, thank u. My state (Arizona) is currently a Covid hotspot in my country so my family and I are _really_ hunkering down inside, no one in, no one out! Better to be safe than sorry. This year has just been chaotic in so many levels, I'm grateful for u and ur channel more than ever. These guys warm my heart 💗 and make me smile 😀. It helps keep the spirit up, u know? Take care SV!

Thank you Tiffany. Good to hear you're all OK. You're right better safe than sorry. I love my time with the two rascals and I'm glad for every minute I can spend with them and like you said they keep our spirits up. I'll still only go to Twycross Zoo when it isn't too busy and leave if I can't keep my distance. We all need something to look forward to, to keep us sane, but health is just more important than anything else. You and your family take care as well! Stay safe!

I just love their big Dumbo ears! Every time I see a Bonobo it reminds of "Bad Ape" (the name humans gave him) in War of the Planet of the Apes. He was so funny and stylish in his choice of attire, if you haven't seen that movie it's well worth more than one viewing. So many different species of Apes and Gorillas represented, see if you can name them all, makeup and CGI at the top of the game! SV, I see you're making up for lost time! LOL

I am! 😁😁 I just wish I could travel again. I would so love to see the new baby at the Antwerp zoo, but I don't think I will be going anywhere but Twycross Zoo and Dudley Zoo this year. I'm still being really careful and don't want to risk anything, even though many people think, lifted restrictions mean COVID is gone. How are you? Any change with smell and taste?

@@SloggerVlogger All in all I'm holding steady, no real change in either smell or taste! However, I've learn to involve my brain when eating, I imagine how something is suppose to taste which helps to motivate me to eat. In terms of smell meter, every now and again I'll catch a passing scent but nothing sustained! Last night I saw a video on Dailymail of 2 female gorillas fighting, one was holding what looked like a fairly newborn baby which she dropped to the ground! The Silverback ran in trying to separate the 2 females while the baby lay on the ground. Then what was described as a male gorilla (I thought it was female) moves in and scoops up the baby so gently and gets it out of harms way! It was the most awesome thing I've ever seen happen in the gorilla world! The equipment in their enclosure looks very familar especially the red hanging barrel. Take a look and let me know what family this is, the Zoo is located in the UK although it was not identified nor the person who provided the video!

I just saw it. Looking for another version of it where I can pause it without the screen coming up to have a proper look. I'm quite sure it's Port Lympne ( my current Thursday series). That was very dramatic and amazing at the same time. Saving the baby like that. Wow. Thank you for letting me know!

Not to be judgmental or rude, but your videos are a little short. My opinion and lord knows my opinion doesn’t mean much, but to me would be more enjoyable if they were longer. God bless and thank you for showing us what we’d probably never be able to see otherwise. I love seeing the primates interact especially when babies are involved. Keep safe!

I appreciate you telling me. I know the video length is sometimes too short for some. The longer videos I do have, only ever get watched to the end by a few, but the main reasons are it's difficult to make them any longer. I stand there for hours watching them when they are doing nothing, just waiting for their moments. People would get pretty bored if they would just see them sleeping. Sometimes they are off view, hiding in the back where visitors can't go. Gorillas and other Zoo animals stay 80-90% inside, rather the outdoors. Now during the pandemic and school holiday is even more difficult to get into the viewing area inside and to stay safe at the same time. Even before the Pandemic, sometimes I'll go to the zoo and I don't get any footage at all. I do like to keep my videos regular every week which wouldn't be possible if I always made them longer. Hopefully you'll understand and rest assured if I do have enough footage I will make longer videos in between.

You have any mating bonobo videos? It’s so strange how young primates can experience non traumatic sexual experiences while humans is the totalll opposite and will ruin a child for life. I don’t know that it is something specific to complexity of the brain but I’m chariots to know why or what causes a difference.

😁 No, sorry Bo. I haven't got any bonobo mating videos. Bonobos are known for being the most highly sexed of all the apes. They certainly are that 😁 . As they say, Bonobos are all about "love, not war"
