These open cockpit combines look very cool. The driving position reminds me of the bridge of a ship

So the trick to starting an old small square baler is simple. Build a bale sized crate to hold your extra spools and your tools and shove it up the chute from the rear then tie it in with a couple pieces of twine so the plunger has to break it free with straw/hay. Running down the road with that in won't bother the baler either. Just leave a gap in the side slats where the dogs are and keep it aft of the needles.
