I play Viola and I just love my part...

Nice! I play cello and wish I put a little more for cello, it's just a single page the cello has, the viola part is probably the best in my opinion. If you do play this with your quartet, record it cause I'd love to hear it!

There are a few errors, but it's an excellent attempt at transcription from the keyboard to a string quartet. The main engraving error is the Db. This note should be spelled as a C#. Also, while the original key is suited for a string quartet, consider altering the key in other transcriptions from the keyboard so that it suits the ensemble in question. Also, despite Bach didn't use bow markings, as indicated through slur marks, it is good to add them unless the intention is for the performer to perform it detaché. Another point is that despite Bach seldom used expression markings such as dynamics, it isn't sacrilegious to add them. On the whole, again, it is an excellent attempt, but it could use some polishing. If you don't have a teacher in composition, then I happen to teach, and I'd be glad to assist you in your studies to better understand the ins and outs of music.
I wouldn't bet that it has a double bass, the usual string quartet is Violin 1- Soprano Violin 2- Alto Viola - Tenor Cello. - Bass

It's two violins, viola, and a cello.

I don't understand the purpose of this. The keyboard version is already written in 4 parts

Can you elaborate?
@giorgio99713 жыл бұрын
There is not much intellectual effort in copying every voice and changing only the instruments, what's the point in doing that?

@@giorgio9971 Why does "intellectual effort" matter??
@giorgio99713 жыл бұрын
@@Techiastronamo because is more interesting and funny, otherwise, at least for me, it's just boring

@@giorgio9971 Well as a cellist, I'd like to play this piece in a quartet setting, so it's for my own personal enjoyment. I'm sure many others would and have evidently enjoyed this arrangement in such a setup, based on the feedback I've received regarding this arrangement. Music generally doesn't exist to incite pure intellectual effort, specifically not arrangements such as these. It's a practicality, not an intellectual challenge, and I find the enjoyment in it is mostly in hearing and playing the piece rather than reveling in the creation of it as I'm assuming that's what you mean.
