My first little giant ladder is the 22 I’ve had for years and my latest one is a 17. Their hardware is just like the one on the gorilla . As for him given the demonstration on the latest little giant ladder, all he has to do is align the ladder up, so the slots will line up with the pins. It’s playing common sense. It starts in the video at. 1:44 seconds.

Another thing I noticed about your review is you're comparing apples to oranges. The Gorilla is an IA rated ladder with 300lb capacity, and the LGL is an IAA at 375lb capacity. Gorilla makes an IAA with wheels, so it would be a better comparison to the LGL you have.

@peterwonaprize3 жыл бұрын
While Gorilla Ladder offers a lot of bang for the buck, I have to reconsider pulling the trigger on a purchase. It just doesn’t look very durable. All the rails, steps and diagonal braces are hole punched and riveted together, which gives me the impression that it’s prone to weakening over years of use. The Little Giant definitely seems much more durable and safe since all the pieces are welded together as solid assemblies. Little Giant is a bit pricier than Gorilla, but I think the extra durability and safety might be worth the investment.
@buildleaserepeat72073 жыл бұрын
You are right, i never paid that much attention, but i do see the rivet (gorilla) vs welded (little giant). Thanks for mentioning
@DIYGEEKTEXAS3 жыл бұрын
Rivets vs Welds? Yeah no comparison! Thanks for pointing that out!
@chicagobears98173 жыл бұрын
I understand and agree with you regarding the Gorilla steps being riveted vs. the Little Giant being welded. However, I have never heard of any Gorilla ladder "failing" at any riveted connection. If I am wrong, please let me know. BTW, I have owned a Gorilla ladder for a year now and used it a lot during that time and love it.
@silentferret10493 жыл бұрын
Most the times those rivets are not going to give any bit unless you overload the ladder or try smacking it with a hammer and even then the ladder would start to bend. I have seen aluminum welds fail before the vivets. I have a costco version and it is welded and riveted (the one before they swapped to the uncovered end caps like the Gorilla) and looking at them both I would put more trust in a good steel rivet than light aluminum welding. Weld fail because they are thinner than you think they are at the joining area. Also the rivet would be easier to notice failure happening as it would get lose and then break vs a weld just breaking straight out. Rivets are also easier to replace. Welded spots are welded because there is not anything else to rivet it onto. Rivets mostly fail when they are used as hinge points as they wear through the rivet or the surrounding metal.
@chicagobears98173 жыл бұрын
Silent Ferret I completely agree. Well said..

If the locking mechanism on the LG isn't lined up with the hole, you can bang on it all day and it won't go in. Just simply slide the inner ladder until the latch lines up with the hole. I don't see this as a problem with the ladder, it's end-user error.

Plus he’s dead on about hitting those wheels at the top of the ladder to open it up so it goes straight they are really hard to hit even on my older model. Now I do keep mine oiled with Endust like they recommended and to extend my ladder I’ve got half circles instead of levers to punch.
