Always loved this song and now it sounds better! The Syndicate of Sound played at my San Jose high school's first dance of the year, 1966. I thought their covers of some Beatles songs were better than the original! I still remember, "You're gonna lose that girl" as being one.

I was a kid in the 60's too. I was also a drummer then and at a time when if you wanted to join a garage band your audition was simple: “Can you play wipe out?” Any guitarist hopeful was expected to cover "Pipe Line." And no one had ever covered the Beach Boys and no one ever will. The better bands played this song that I had heard on AM radio as that kid, as well as re-mixes or other enhancements in the digital domain. Until now I’ve never heard the rhythm guitar work so distinct as I’ve heard here. Actually impressive guitar work even by today’s standards, whatever those are anymore. Thanks for the vid.

You're sure right about having to play surf music back in the early '60s. After that every garage band had to learn The Shadows of Knight version of "Gloria."
@robertmiller52173 жыл бұрын
@@andyinoregon Hey Andy. A correction here. There is a pro band out there called "The Fendertones." Close your eyes and it is the Beach Boys. But it takes a bunch of vocalists to do it. The Beach Boys needed only five. The thing that made their sound so unique was the timbre of the voices themselves. Someone can sing the notes, but it's not the same. The Fendertones have that covered, but it takes a duet to truly capture Brian's voice. Check 'em out right here.

This angry song really put garage bands on the map. The composers of the Brill Building in New York really define the early 60s. Ellie Greenwich, Phil Spector, Barry Mann, Leiber and Stoller, Boyce and Hart. Their street-smart tear-jerkers gave us 60s people a new perspective about romance. Not so easy, as we would like.

One of my favorite songs from my youth in the sixties. I heard it for the first time in the beginning of 1966. It reached nr.19 in the Top 40 in the Netherlands and stayed there for 8 weeks. That crisp and clear sound of the guitars and I like the arrogant voice of the singer. That's exactly how I felt when I once was rejected ;-) ==>> "It's all over for you, hahaha"

I was a senior (1966) in high school at Wichita, Ks. East High. Got this music, I seemed to stretch at that age in to the what I thought was music that made sense to me and could rock my ass off in my bedroom where my stereo was. First album bought: The Surfs and Pipeline, Second Album Bought: Rave it Up With Yardbirds (I still have it today 2020), Third albumL: They Byrds Turn Turn, their is a season. Then came Eric Burden and the Animals.....throughout his career, most of his songs paralled my life. Anyway I could go on, and on but hey the The Lovin Spool, Classics 4, Roy Orbison, The Association, and on and on. The Zombies, Paul Revere and the Raiders, and yes the Beach Boys.
