For anyone who's confused on what to make of this scene, You as the player really supposed to learn and understand from this, that regardless of if its you making the deal, or someone else, they all become just decorative pieces to ozzy, all is the same. Which is what unfortunately we see towards the love interests if Elise goes through with her sacrifices.

In Pocket Mirror it's revealed Elise died of illness, suspiciously similar to Granny Holle and then she was showed to become a golden girl with red shoes. When Elise died did she also become a golden girl with Rozenmarine?

Perhaps in the other endings, but in the Rozenmarine ending? No, actually. In Pocket Mirror's bonus room for 'The Strange Boy', he actually states that-while he did try-he was actually unable to claim Elise's soul. "Too bad she wouldn't join me, I sure tried. I guess gold just wasn't her color." We know that Elise only gave Goldia the pocket mirror on her deathbed, meaning that she died while still under it's protection.

@@GamerJosh2611 In a way, that's even more tragic because she and Rozenmarine never got to see each other again, even as Golden Maidens... though I must say, their romance was so loaded with red flags that the odds of their finding a happy ending (Star-crossed) were minuscule... Even in Star-crossed, it takes three years for Rozenmarine to work out her issues and commit to a long-term relationship.

This shows that if you decide to meet Ozzy then you are already screwed, all the girls here became golden, the one who ran, the one who was sacrificed and the one who got her wish granted, it just foreshadows the final decision. Elise can only get her happy ending if she chooses to not engage with him at all.

I'm not gonna lie, as much as I loved this game, for how much time I dedicated to combing the map constantly to get all golden maidens, I was really disappointed to see it rewarded with just like, one bonus cutscene. I thought for sure it'd unlock some sort of secret ending.

I feel like with how many plot points we had, the conclusion was a bit underwhelming when viewed by itself and not as a prequel. We don’t see Holle’s room (it’s just mentioned to contain an effigy in the max suspicion game over); no special ending for finding the golden girls; doing the extra work to get behind Father Hans’ schemes gets you a short bad end etc. Many of those could have been combined into some sort of friendship-ending where the golden girls fight back (as some mentioned they wanted) and Father Hans gets the blame for the witchcraft since he arguably caused the most damage to the town. I can only guess the creators didn’t want to give this kind of high-effort-perfect-happy-end ending when the ‘true’ ending had to be very negative to fit with pocket mirror. If they do make dlc I’d be happy though, one can dream (like adding at least a picture to the death you get for max suspicion and making it into an ending instead of ‘red screen then game over screen’).

Yeah, I was going to replay the game for the Golden Maidens secret but the Father Hans ending I had access to was so short I thought it probably won't be worth it, so I looked it up on youtube. This cutscene just tells what you already been told multiple times if you put the pieces together Having the Golden Maidens fight back would be a cool cutscene/ending

So... if I got this scene right, Valerie, Alpenrose and Sanni were once best playmates. But then, Valerie wanted to become as rich as Alpenrose. All three made a pact with Ozzy. But when Sanni realizes that Alpenrose was meant to be fed to Ozzy, she flees in terror. Valerie then murders Alpenrose in cold blood. Did I get it all right?

I would say that's pretty much it. One could probably add that Sanni still died even though she tried to break the deal. You can actually find all three of these girls in the game but unfortunately they don't really say anything that adds to this scene.

@@Rhentsi what really messes me up is Elise. dang, she's dumb! the warnings and laments of the golden maidens are clear as day, but Elise is just like: "what are you chattering about?" if I didn't knew better, I'd say she didn't WANT to get the message.

In the end the demons, the witch and even Rozenmarine to a certain degree all did their best to mislead and confuse her, so her environment wasn't exactly supportive in guiding her towards the right decisions. After all we are talking about a 17 year old girl who has known nothing but poverty and abuse for most of her life, so I guess your take on "She didn't want to get the message" is the right call.

@@Rhentsi ok, to be fair: I admit that I was indeed taken aback by how ungrateful and ruff the townspeople were towards Elise. I think that's because she was kind of a foundling of suspicious origin to the peoples which made them prefer to avoid her. yet, some peoples like father Hans, Welma, Loreley, Odilie and especially Old Jochen really treated her like dirt. totally uncalled for. yeah, that would drag me down, too. however, there were nuff peoples who where also nice to Elise, like Gustav, Mechthild, Lisbeth and the kids.

Elise learns in this scene that her own granny made a deal with the devil to have her born into this world, and that the price was paid with the life of another. She learns the ultimate fate of the golden maidens, and that their wishes, though granted, still lead to misery suffering and regret. She learns that the price to pay is the life of a loved one (which should give an indication of what the Good Company actually is and why she must bring them for the ritual). She learns all of this, but her actions following do not really reveal any growth or change in character, which i find a bit disappointing. It feels unrealistic that she would STILL choose to carry on with her witchy mission after all of her interactions with the golden maidens (all with varying advice, most gave her warnings) and uncovering the truth of her birth and the true nature of her granny. This is CRUCIAL information but nothing comes of it. At this point we cannot sympathize with her when she loses her loved one and is set on a path of despair, ultimately losing her daughter to Him as well, because SHE KNEW BETTER. There is no "plausible deniability" with this memory revealed to her - she KNOWS the consequences, and CHOOSES this path regardless. That is why her shock at the end of the ritual feels so annoying with this knowledge, and why i struggle to root for her most of the game. She comes across more stupid and dimwitted than determined,and this affects how we engage with the tragic endings. She wasn't tricked by Him, the bargain was pretty straightforward, but we're supposed to feel sorry for her and the outcomes she chose. Nah, Elise, only you fcked up. would've been cool if they added a secret ending that is only accessible after achieving this cutscene: give Elise the choice to listen to the warnings of the golden maidens and have her completely drop all her plans to see Him. This could lead to the ending of her continuing her life as it is now, though miserable. Or make it a somewhat happy ending where she decides to leave town and start a life someplace else, away from her roots and cursed history, and away from her lover as she is afraid of implicating them further. This could show her turning a new page and putting all of the witch things behind her, start anew. This would also give a sense of agency to the player, because we feel we have a choice to deny this path we've been following even though we don't agree with it. This memory otherwise holds very little to no meaning and might as well not have been included since it has no importance in how Elise chooses to continue her journey Edit: sorry i just realised that with this memory and knowledge Elise should be very much aware that her loved one will be fated to become a golden maiden (a play-thing for the devil himself) if she commits to the deal. How horrible is that? It either makes Elise look super dumb or disgustingly selfish for still bringing them along

While I understand your frustration with Elise, I think one must still consider that pretty much everyone coerced her into making the deal with Ozzy. While there were hints regarding what's going to happen to Elise, a lot of golden maidens actually spoke in favor of Ozzy and seemingly did not regret their deal with him. Since the game is a prequel to pocket mirror and has to follow it's story, I believe the way little goody two shoes implemented the different endings is well done. You can experience what "really" happened by having Elise run into her demise or you can have a happy ending and save Elise.

@Rhentsi no no i definitely agree, i think it just would've been nice to have more rewarding outcome for going through the trouble of collecting all 25 golden maidens. Many players voiced disappointment that they only get a secret cutscene. Players enjoy being rewarded for going the extra mile and it's always in the game's favour for delivering a well-deserved one. Obviously this is just my opinion

From my point of view, what Elise does is primarily the player’s decision and I think the game was thought that way first, even though I know that Pocket Mirror exists and tends to specifically formalize an ending. But the fact is that the game offers us the possibility to renounce the pact with Ozzy. From there, I think it’s quite unfair to criticize Elise for having all the information to understand what will happen if she continues on this momentum when in the end, it is the person who controls her who decides to ignore all this and continue despite everything when he could have had the opportunity to make her give up and save her. For me, Elise’s final decision reflects the mindset of the player who controls her: the fact that she decides not to take all the warnings seriously and does it until the end isn'it the reflection of the player who does not take seriously the whole plot and decides to go through with it out of curiosity because he knows very well that after all, it’s only a game?

Think it be cool if there was an 11th ending where elise overthrows ozzy maybe with the help of the golden maidens, maybe it requires a 'perfect' run. but as it stands theres no reason to interract with the paranormal at all in this game. Kinda lame. For how pretty the game is, and how cool elise could be. It's pretty unpolished.

I kept trying to get this cutscene, but even when finding all the golden maidens (and trust me i counted along the way), it kept saying i only met 24. On Wednesday night, when you met 4 golden girls, it only logged 3 of the 4 when id meet them. Really sad, still glad im able to see the scene here though

I just beat it on switch too and got 6 of the 10 endings and i did notice the game didnt count a golden girl i found; i was supposed to be missing 3 but i ended up missing 4 ill try and see if it's possible for the game to save that you found all 25 on my next playthrough whether i decide to court Freya or Lebkuchen.

I think you need to look at this clip in reverse. First you look at the three golden girls. Sanni and Valerie made a deal with Ozzy to sacrifice Alpenrose so that Ozzy will grant them their wish. Sanni then chickens out which essentially breaks their deal with Ozzy. Valerie still pulls through with the deal and sacrifices Alpenrose. Then you look at the CG where the girl(Valerie) talks to Ozzy. Ozzy says Valerie can't back out of the deal only because Sanni ran away and that Sanni will get punished for breaking the deal. Valerie doesn't care and says Ozzy can do with Sanni whatever he wants as long as her wish is granted. I guess the point is to display that it doesn't matter whether a girl gets sacrificed, breaks a deal or has her wish being granted, their souls become enslaved to Ozzy by becoming Golden Maidens.

(An example of this is talking to 18 of them by thursday night, talking to the 4 during the witching hour. Making the total 22. But then the game says i only have 21) is anyone having(or previously had) this issue? If so, how do i fix it?
