English subtitles Once upon a time, in the heart of a remote valley, an elderly woman ventured deep into the woods in search for mushrooms. When all of a sudden, she heard a loud cry in the distance. "My goodness!" Cradled inside a rope basket was a cheerful baby girl. "Oh, my! What do I do?" "Worry not, my dear." "I'll name you... Elise!" And so, Holle and Elise spent their days together in the village of Kieferberg. As both grew closer so did their love for one another. "Look, granny! Look!" "Fufufu ♪ Well done, Elise!" Not all bliss loasts forever and, as time went by... So did Holle's... "I'll take care of you!" "I'll do whatever it takes, granny!" "Don't cry, my love." "You've always said you wanted it. I'm sure you'll cherish it. Fufufu ♪" "Granny..." "I love you, Elise." "Thank you for granting my only wish..."

Fun fact! As the book opens, you see a note written by Elise to Goldia, her daughter. This is the best I can decipher: To: Goldia Die Heilige To my dearest daughter I dedicate this tale of my lifetime [unreadable] to shed some light. Your mother, Elise

Wait a sec - was Granny Holle reading a book to Elise? I remember someone mentioning in-game that Holle was completely illiterate...
@Ellslwkwkwkwkwkak6 ай бұрын
Maybe they not know she actually was literate cause in the game is mentioned she rarely stepped on their village, i think that why has also the option of Elise saying Holle's used to send letters to Rozenmarine

Spoilers!!!!! While it didn't come as a complete shock that Holle was also one of the Golden Maidens (the prologue does drop hints such as 'granting my only wish' and the snuffed-out candlelight) The encounter with Holle in the demonic replica of Elise's home within the Ceramic Grove of Wheat was really astounding in that Holle turned out to be far more villainous than imagined She actually had the gall to claim that sacrificing her beloved (the Good Company?) was in accordance with said victim's wishes, showed absolutely no regrets or remorse for her decisions, and didn't even try to dissaude Elise, her 'beloved daughter', from following in her footsteps Really drove home the uncomfortable truth that our nostalgic, rose-tinted memories tend to be just that

A little girl that would one day sacrifice an innocent teenage girl to fulfill her own material needs. Elise is the real antagonist of this story.

Tbf, she is wracked with guilt over it for the rest of her life, and comes to deeply regret it. She also didn’t know what the wish would entail when she initially made the deal. And if she tries to intervene to save her loved one, then it’s game over and she gets killed by Ozzy.

Yup, the title 'Little Goody Two Shoes ' is totally misleading - the story and its ultimate denouement is closer to Hans Andersen's fairy tale (though Elise manages to keep all of her limbs, she pays an even more terrible price for her vanity and greed)
