“The journey of life is a celebration in itself.”
Little Guyana was conceptualized on March 21st 1992. Terry G was on a truck with MC Kishore and the Swarangeet band singing for the massive crowd packed along Liberty Avenue for New York’s Phagwa Parade. Terry was amazed at the number of Guyanese who came out to represent their culture and remarked to MC Kishore that “Richmond Hill looks like a Little Guyana.” Later that night, Terry put pen to paper and wrote the lyrics for the song “Richmond Hill Ah Little Guyana.” Within a few weeks it was recorded at JTS Studios in Elmhurst Queens and it became an instant hit.
Fast forward to a historical day in May 2021, District leader Richard David was instrumental in the co-naming of Liberty Avenue and Little Guyana.
To celebrate this historical day, Terry reached out to the stars from Guyana, Vicadi Singh and Tony Cuttz and they instantly agreed to the collaboration. He also contacted future superstar and the most promising Guyanese, Randy Recklez Ramdin.
For the icing on the cake, Terry then reached out to The Music Boss Raymond Ramnarine and he instantly agreed to produce the track with his brother Richard at Bakyard Studios. The love that Raymond has for the Guyanese people is undeniable and mutual. It represents the harmony between Guyanese and Trinidadians living in the Richmond Hill community.
Here is another masterpiece from Bakyard Studios that celebrates the accomplishments of our Guyanese brothers and sisters.
