Crazy how they forshadowed everything at the beginning. The empty bus, the housefire, curator telling you that you couldnt have saved them, the hint they are already dead, Taylor always pushing the people to split up and be on their own symbolizing letting the past go for Anthony. Its great.

I love thier interpretation of grief. Such a cool theme. He blames himself for not saving them and he is struggling to address what the cause of the fire was. Even the little qte prompts are kinda of symbolic because he didn't know how to save them in the 70s but now he's prepared. That's why the demons are so slow and you get to prepare for a qte but even so it's quite easy to mess up a qte, proving that even if you could go back to try to prevent a death you still can't guarantee you'll actually be able to save them.

Y'know I usually hate the "in their head the whole time" ending trope, but I must admit, I liked it with this game. Not entirely sure why. Maybe the symbolism? Maybe the way it was relevant to the story and actually made sense given the character's trauma? Maybe just the way it was done, a bit more creatively than most horror games that use that trope. I think the bread crumbs and intense symbolism strewn through the game helped...

For me it was realizing that the demons were representative of his trauma and the death of his family and that the game is really a battle for Andrew/Anthony’s psyche. I think the Twist is strong when everyone but Andrew/Anthony Dies, you have the gun, you save Megan and make Peace with Vince. Andrew/Anthony wanting to commit Suicide, but being stopped by her really makes the twist work, as a true Neutral Ending. He lost everything all over again, but in the end, Megan is forgiven. It's not much, but it's enough. Enough to keep going. Enough to move on.

I had seen a theory that said that basically at the end, even if you did have everyone still alive, they would die if you didn't choose options during the game that made them "independant", we can see tht the ones who die are the ones that weren't left alone for a period of time Basically if they did be independant in the end, it would prove to Andrew that it wasn't his fault for the death of his family, that they could have survived by themselves

that's not true.... If Mary/Megan was "the bad one"/demon she wouldn't have died in the house fire, that wouldn't make any sense. Then right at the first trial we see the reverant forcing Mary to blame the mother and that he'll do something to her instead if she doesn't do as he says. (again someone else makes her do something,just like the demon did in the other time which directly makes Reverant Carver the double of the demon.) the game basically said out loud that Mary isn't doing it out of free will and that Carver is evil at this point xD The sister also has a scene with her where she tells her to get rid of the dolls because they might be mistaken for witchcraft and it could get her in bad trouble after Mary tells her they're just her puppets to play with and even invites her to join in.

Honestly, he's suffered enough. He blocked off those memories and then, to relive it again and maybe another time is too much for anyone. He already went through it for real the first time, and then rewatching it again through the doubles witch trials and then one more time if you kill them off in his head. The only thing i find weird is how Anthony made the character dynamics.

Apparently they were all adopted and none of the kids were actually related. Because in the beginning the dad says something like, "Well if we could have kids of our own". So since theyre all adopted and not actually related it makes it a little less wierd.

I think that´s how he viewed their family´s dynamics. Their appearance and age are like how they were before their death. John as the only professor represents the only authority figure, the one who actually leads and responsible for all of them. He tries his best but his emotions often overwhelmed him (I think it represented the time when James was drunk). Angela as a mature student, the oldest in age so she demands respects, wants to know everone else´s business, and tries to be in control. But in reality, she´s almost equal as the other teenagers. And thus, come out as unpleasant. Daniel and Taylor as a coupe because Dennis and Tanya´s relationship seemed to be the closest in the family and Dennis even hated Tanya´s boyfriend (which Anthony probably interpreted as a jealously). The reason Taylor doesn´t want their relationship to be known is probably because Dennis and Tanya were siblings, even if just adopted siblings. And lastly, Megan who appeared as Mary the ghost instead of fellow passengers probably because deep down, Anthony kinda believed his family that there´s something wrong, something sinister with Megan.

OK here's what happened. In the beginning there was the house that burned down the main character was the only one to escape. Taylor was hung from a rope as she tried to jump off the roof, the mother suffucated in the bath room and so on. After that he grew up his whole life with ptsd. He imagined everyone on the bus as people who died in his family he also imagined the the people that died in the witch trials as people who died in his family, for instance the mother drowned (suffocated) the sister was hung and so on. The reason the black guy said the main character was a murderer was because he was Taylor's bf (the red head) and thought he burned down the house. So in conclusion he's crazy and imagined it all. Idk if this helped. Also the Asian guy is the judge from the beginning of the game that said "what did you do" that's y he associated him with a judge.

I think it was meant to be symbolism of the abuse that happened to Megan and how nobody really cared about her. The entire point of the game was to save Mary and the others so it could be Andrew trying to make an alternate reality where he realised what was going on so he could at least try and help her in his head.

It was a representation of her abuse. Carver (the real one) was always requesting Megan to stay with him after church, and she was going bad at school. It is not clear to me if she was already troubled and the priest made it worse, or if the priest started Megan's illness, but the "demon" is Carver. There is even a drawing in the church of her and a figure in black. This is why Andrew/Anthony saw the past Carver as evil: he is beginning to understand that it wasn't his or Megan's fault. She was just an abused kid. Of course, unless you decide to blame Megan.

So many people I see ripping on the 'OMG wtf why couldn't it be real supernatural stuff instead of this mental health stuff' but.... Being real I love all of these guys games as choose your own adventure movies. Whatever anyone else says, 'it all being in his head' doesn't take away from the fact, to me, that he's still actually experiencing this. Going through it. The scares still feel real to me to. And this is a HELL of a tragedy with just about anything but what you'd consider the 'best' endings, and certainly engaging on that front. I admit Man of Medan I felt let down by, but that was coming off of Until dawn with a pretty clever subversion of 'It's a mental case slasher but no actually it was supernatural stuff too'. After getting through little hope and feeling a little let down at first, I'm really coming to appreciate these stories.

I saw Wolfe's playthrough and his explanation made me think. Seeing your loved ones die again and again and no matter what Andrew did in this ending he couldn't save them, like in the beggining. For some this is the worst ending. For me this is the best. He can rest now; he ended his suffering for all. Honestly if I were in Anthony shoes, I would have pulled that trigger way earlier. You lost your family twice. He doesn't have anybody judging by his look and his mental health. At least he can reunite with his family.

I love theory about Megan being real ghost (not Mary) and she helps or punish Anthony if he forgive himself from survivor's guilt or blame her for fire. And thats only good ending is when Megan stops Anthony's suicide attempt.

Okay, from what I understand,first: 1.have every one killable early die,easy 2.get the gun and keep it with at least one bullet,easy 3.condemned Mary to burn (if you do this the whole family other than Andrew die anyway)simple. 4.dont know If necessary but be mean to Vince.
