The powerful impact of Albert's character and the whole series of LHOTP too, even though Albert's character and the rest of Ingalls' adopted children were fictional... Albert played his role so well that we just wished his character was real. ML was brilliant to have created extra characters in the series that certainly has made our childhood yesteryears something to remember about.

We recall an episode from around 1981 when in voice over Laura mentioned that one day Albert would become Dr Albert Ingalls. A few years later, with the series coming to a close, they could take a liberty and instead hope people didn't remember that episode. One of the greatest television series ever.

Life for everyone was hard then. It may just seem chaotic to modern day people who live in a sterile world of easy inoculations and supermarkets, it's easy to forget that for us as a species, surviving has been a struggle for all but a couple puny century's.

@pinky12351 That was an error in continuity. This happens with many tv series unfortunately. When the writers wrote the script for Home Again they apparently hadn't thought up the concept of Albert dying of Leukemia in a future episode.

It wasn't Leukemia as that had already been touched on by name on the series. The side effects the doctor described were clearly symptoms of AIDS. I think it was Michael Landon's roundabout way of addressing the growing epidemic that was taking place at the time and since it didn't exist in the prairie days, they made it a nameless blood disorder.

If Albert has a blood disease, why don't they just drain his blood with leaches? Isn't that how they cured it in those days? Besides, in the episode where he's hooked on crank, at the end they announce that Albert goes on to become the town doctor, the writers need to do their homework.
