Little House in the Prairie: The Legacy of Laura Ingalls Wilder is a one-hour documentary that goes beyond the famed Little House book series to the behind-the-scenes, true life story of one of Americas most iconic authors, Laura Ingalls Wilder. Despite the fame and the popularity of her novels, Wilders personal story as a writer, wife and mother is a compelling narrative that has never been told...until now.
I'm very proud of this program, but it is not being sold at the present time.
Note: The music used in this trailer is for introductory marketing purposes only and will not be included in the program.

As a young father raising four children, I used that opportunity to read all of the Little House books to them. Though the years have passed and my children have grown and have children of their own, I often take myself back to an earlier time. Going back to this earlier time, you can hear the birds chirping in the meadows and the sounds of nature so pure that even the smells of that wonderful place visit my senses. My vehicle to that place is found in those Little house books. Thank You Laura

So many people in today's society don't realize all the good things Laura's books have done and will continue to do. Wilder wrote eight books about her life growing up on the prairie, and they are so down to earth it takes you there when you read them. The little house on the prairie series is my favorite of all time. Thank you so much Laura!!

That is awesome that Laura made you listen to the sounds of nature and everything. I work at the Ingalls Homestead and one thing I love about working there is I often have time to just sit and enjoy nature (listening to birds, watching the little colts run and play, petting and holding the kittens, listening to the howling of the wind (which most people find dreadful, but not me!),dancing in the rain, and I love to watch the sway of the wheat in the fields and the hay blow across the prairie.

I'm not at all surprised she could do that, as a historian, I have done extensive studying into the lives of Laura and Almanzo as well as the other family members, for it was Little House that first sparked my interest in history. Laura is the embodiment of the American pioneer, she had to get through a lot of rough things on faith and guts, those lessons were taught to her as a child so those thoughts were likely very pure in her mind even later in life. Can't wait to watch this. Ordering soon

There was a smudge on a letter that was sent by Laura Engles Wilder to a school that had written to her. It could have been a tear drop as she remembered her life from her past. She lived in those stories and never forgot those precious times. Laura and her family really lived and her account of her life with her family from that time so long ago must have been a tear of love for those wonderful memories and her family that endured time, the special times that visited her from her childhood.

I love the story of Laura and her family. Last year I went on my "Little House vacation" and visited all the Ingalls homesteads. I was not disappointed at all. Even visited the Wilder Farm in Malone, NY. Waded on the banks if Plum Creek!!! And visited all their gravesites too!! Loved her home on Rocky Ridge!!! She was an amazing woman and wish I could have met with her.

I've msg'd you about using your material for homeschooling, it was a while ago and under another username Anyway, well done, I'm Canadian and I agree with all the former cast mem's....Little House is more popular now than when on the air. Knowing the REAL stories is just as important though. God bless! :)

Did you visit the Ingalls Homestead in DeSmet, SD? It is really a great place to go. It is also awesome to browse the stores in the "Little Town On The Prairie." While in DeSmet you can also visit the Wilder Homestead, go to the Pageant (In July only), tour the Ingalls home in town, go on a tour to different places in town that Laura talks about in her books, visit Silver Lake (now just a slough), and visit the grave sites of Charles, Caroline, Mary, Carrie, Grace, and Baby Boy Wilder.

Some times it takes only a heart felt insight of a good publisher to make others realize what missed their luck of not truly understanding the depth and feel of such a touching story. One that makes you feel that some of your growing life experiences, regardless of where you lived, looked somewhat similar to those, who played the roles of some characters in this, amazing serial . 💫

Can hardly wait to see the whole thing. Great to see the variety of places shot. That really is Pepin at the beginning and that's the Ingalls Homestead as they are driving away. I think some of that was Living History Farms in Des Moines also. It looks like their 1840s farm. Love the Harvey Dunn paintings and the animations. well, I Iive in South Dakota, that is why I said those things about it, because I live here and it is not as beautiful as everyone makes it sound. At least right now it isn't. After a trip to the city, though, South Dakota does look beutiful. Sometime I want to fly over head and take a picture of South Dakota because I think it looks really neat. It looks like a giant quilt spread out because of the fields; Each field is a quilt block. One day is a nice hot summer day the next is winter.

I know you weren't asking me, but I know the answer to your question (I work at the Ingalls Homestead in DeSmet, SD and everyone asks this same question when they visit). There are no living descendents of Laura and Almanzo. their only child that lived to adulthood was Rose Wilder Lane who only had one child that died as an infant. I am sure there are relatives of theirs living, but no descendants.and no descendants of Charles and Caroline Ingalls either (Rose was their only grandchild)

They make South Dakota look like someone would WANT to live there. But anyone in there right mind wouldn't WANT to live there.
