I thought it was a clever way to illustrate the awkwardness of code switching. White people do that too. E.g. when talking to northerners / southerners if you've lived among both. Sometimes it's easier just to be more like them.

@@MiG2880I considered her shook because she didn't utilize code switching to forge intimacy and solidarity rather to distance herself from that identity. The stronger her self denial the more her speech and body language asserted her identity. It was absurd and I've seen people who have done this and it struck me as tragic.

@@jaybee7448 It has not been officailly declared a word but I am apart of that small group, that believes just like 'sung', 'sang' is to 'sing' and/or 'rung', 'rang' is to ring. 'Brang' or 'brung' should be inflections of the word 'bring'. That is not the case however and had a lot to do with how the pedigree of our society chose to enunciate their words. 👍🏾

OMG she is just amazingly funny. Why such a short lived series? Genuine tears of laughter at many of these sketches. Perhaps it helps to be familiar with some other cultures such as Nigerian/Ghanaian/Jamaican.

I am from the Caribbean and these skits so resonates with me esp, the nurse taking weight of patients. I had a similar experience. The nurse is obese and when she told me my weight she wanted a reaction. I told her I have a scale at home I know my weight. She did it to the other patients because other women came out upset about their weight.
