I think the Rahaloon are meant to symbolize how extreme some Fundamentalists can get, and not just Fundamentalist Muslims, Christians can go to extremes too!

They are real and called Tableeghi Jaamat in Pakistan & India. They are not that bad usually as depicted here,

No they aren't, additionally their depiction in the show is a bit unrealistic playing on certain ethnic qualities which wouldn't make sense in their context and melding together several Asian cultures (Afghan, Arab, Pakistani, even Persian at times) into a general Muslimish one. It's not exactly a realistic depiction of anyone at all - at least in the west. Many of the aspects of the show I've found to be more exaggerated concerns which happen on a much larger scale all happening in a single mosque in a rather exaggerated manner. It'll also always just eat at me but the show has them saying rāhalūn, rāḥilūn or rāhilūn is what they meant to go for, "travelers", an active participle in the plural.

yup, the depiction here is too exaggerating and overly unrealistic. it's a sitcom anyway.
