OKAY BUT- that would be so cool for a third game/finale, to have Six venture back through another part of the world to get back to Mono and free him- maybe not because he’s her friend but because she understands that this is the only way to fix the fractured timelines. perhaps along the way we will get to meet the other children and see what they are capable of… like an epic quest to free their world from the signal, whether or not that includes saving Mono. edit for people still commenting on this in 2024: i haven't followed this creator for a couple years now, because of some rather insensitive comments made towards me (a trans person) during a conversation about trans people. i'm leaving the comment here because i enjoy this franchise, but i'd appreciate if i didn't get replies anymore. happy theorizing.

As a society in general, we've become so consumed in capturing the memory that we forget to experience it. This game changed a lot for me. Now that I'm more unplugged, I see so many distracted by their signal devices. In traffic, kids parties, doctor visits, school, etc. As a society, we're all chasing the signal. It's sad

I agree with the point at 8:50. If Six was always going to leave Mono, then she would’ve just kept running. She didn’t. She consciously turned around and held her arm out to catch him. Then she hesitated for awhile before dropping him. What really does it for me is when she slowly rises, staring down as she watches her friend plummet. Even though you can’t see her face, there’s a lot of emotion there.

Honestly I think Six has embraced the darkness of the world the moment she was turned back from "monster", and based on the music of that bridge scene, she didn't regret that decision. I've been trying to make sense of this like you since it was released and this is the only theory that doesn't seem to leave holes. It gives lots of scope for expansion on the story and further DLC's too, that would be a perfect ending. I have three theory’s 1. They see Mono as the signal but also see him as a human which leaves them confused and since they are not merged with the tower and unable to understand what he is they think the best idea is to get rid of him. 2. They are almost fully absorbed with the tower but not there yet as they haven’t turned into the fleshy monster. They understand what Mono is and his connection to the Thin Man and they believe that they have no chance of beating the Thin Man but think they have a chance of beating Mono. 3. They are trying to somehow rewire Mono to change the ending as it’s an endless loop to finally achieve their freedom.

I think she dropped him fur multiple reasons but the main ones are: Mono releases thin man, mono fails to save her from thin man, mono destroys her only form of escapism in the tower, the platform is cracking and crumbling (it even falls immediately after six leaves)

I've already monologued at length about my theory, and it basically aligns with this. I never did realize the eyes only look at Mono, though, I like the conjecture that she realizes this. And of course, I don't think Six becomes the Lady because she leaves the Maw after she gets those powers, so a little rescue mission (or revenge mission, if a darker, edgier story suits a theorist better) makes the most sense. I will say, though, that if this was the first time she experienced The Hunger, she may not be as weak as all she gets late into the LN game. For one, it's a progressing hunger. It starts out small, and ends with her eating a Nome and Lady, so it might have been a weaker hunger. Also, the hunger fits themselves start small. She isn't immediately debilitated, you can walk around for a bit before it takes her down. But notably, she does begin to curl in on herself at the end of her walk away from the ledge. Personally, I think it's because she's had a bad day, and this was the cherry on top of her sad ice cream. But, you could argue it's similar to how she curls in and clutches her stomach when she starts getting hungry. Personally, either explanation works for me. Or heck, why not both? People make decisions based on numerous factors, it's very rarely a single cause for a single effect. :)

Great theory! I really like that last part about Six and her possible redemption, and I think part of Little Nightmares II may support that. There's the easter egg where you can find what seems to be The Lady's apartment in the Pale City. It's possible that at some point, Six did try to come back, using what she had from the Maw, and left some things behind in that apartment, or was using the flat as a sort of base. It makes sense seeing as architecture and inanimate objects don't seem to be affected by the loops. It feels more plausable than the apartment in the Pale City specifically being where The Lady's from. Maybe Six did try to break Mono from the loop, possibly more than once, and just didn't make it to the end.

I believe Six dropped Mono because he destroyed the music box, the one thing that comforts her in that dark world when she was trapped and how it brought Mono to her twice. Their story starts and ends with it and by destroying the music box to save Six, he is the one who becomes trapped.

I read other theorists saying shadow six may actually be a piece of sixes soul torn from her body during her time in the pale city and supposedly this is where her hunger came from, it’s the emptiness of her missing soul she is trying to fill. But again, it’s just what they think.

That makes sense, since when the Thin Man takes Six, it leaves a shadow Six, which leads Mono to her. Mono saves her and reverts her back to her original form, but we never see her get that part of her back. Mono also could absorb the other shadow children, but didn't absorb shadow Six, so I can only assume that the shadow Six we see at the end and in LN1, is the same shadow that lead Mono out of that subway station.

Speaking of six wanting to rescue him , it actually makes sense . At the end of little nightmares 1 it does seems like she's going to leave to somewhere else . So what if , she travels to the pale city , rescues mono , and then , when she wants to go with mono through the tv to the maw ( so she would have a place to eat ) , mono goes into another the place in the beginning of little nightmares 2 and six gets into the hunter's house .

Aw that bonus theory is so sweet! That'd be so crazy if she wanted to gain some supernatural power to take on the signal tower, somehow free Mono of being a signal and they would get to hang out as they survived together! But if the ending where Mono grows up is actually him just growing up, then I think sadly that Six had "forgotten" about him and won't free him. And that's terribly sad. I never understood the loop theory at all until this video. I don't know why I couldn't figure it out before this video. The Thin Man was waiting for when Mono would free him from the TV in every playthrough. I think there's some kind of time corruption that allows the Thin Man and Mono to be in the same places at the same time. But there's one comic about the loop, that Six is completely aware of the loop and that she dances and waits for when Mono will come free her from the cabin again meanwhile Mono is freaked out why he was just born from a TV like "why is this happening?!" I don't like that comic at all. It makes no sense at all. I believe if there's a loop that characters are going through none of them can become aware of being in a loop. It's impossible for them to know it's a loop. So Six wouldn't know that at some point Mono would come save her from the cabin and then they'd go on the adventure again. Yet I love your theory that Mono is the signal. He's the one the viewers are attracted to and will want to keep him among them so they can watch. I believe that Mono is very naive that he doesn't understand his TV powers and doesn't know that he's a signal. Hell, who knows how he managed to form himself a physical body to move around in the world. And I don't know what the viewers got from watching Mono age up into the Thin Man. It looked like a very sad and boring show, him sitting there as he grows taller.

I really love this entire theory/explanation, as well as the eye-monster theory, and I think the content is incredibly well done. My only (very gripe-y) suggestions could be changing the background music into a more brooding or theme-fitting genre, like maybe a slow piano or something. Also, maybe have slightly more recordings of various places in the game to use as filler footage. For example, instead of reusing the scene of mono running down the corridor from the eye-monster and getting crushed by a wall (lmao) which cuts to black and slightly steals the viewers attention (or at least mine) to something like you sneaking through the more filler-y areas in the game between sections, even if it is less related to what your saying about the monster. Or when commenting on the distorting effects of the signal tower, instead of returning to the footage of Mono on the chair surrounded by eyes (even if it is related to the content) to other things including that which also show the extent of the distortion such as the stretched neck of the teacher, exaggeration of the doctors obesity or the artwork of the citizens or the barber? I have no experience in the field, so take everything I have said with a grain of salt, and this isn't meant in any way to be critical, just what I think as a casual viewer. Love your vids and I hope anything I said could be in any way helpful to you! (I also liked the new introduction to the video, really sums up your channel well I think)

Could it be a time loop... Or could The Tower use Mono's greatest fear as weapon against him? Taunt him with an terrifying foreshadowing, use it and remind him of what he will become, a thing that makes Mono want to wear something on his head just to hide himself from this future. Mono was going to open that door for a reason after all, he wanted to touch the hands of Thinman to erase this glitched image when door was opened... Unfortunately, Thinman arrived much more powerful than he thought, and erasing him took much more time

A really great detail in the game that I’ve seen no one talk about ( correct me if I’m wrong ) is how when you fight the Thin Man, beneath Mono are waves or pulses. If you look at the pictures scattered throughout the game of the Signal Tower, it’s depicted sending the very same signal waves. So this is either just some neat detail, some form of foreshadowing, an implication that Mono is only somewhat connected, or that he’s just the downright source

Hold up...I just notice this. Look at the scene where Six drops Mono. It happens quick, but it looks like Mono loosened his grip a split second before Six pulled away. Also, skip to 7:11. I'm not sure if this was merely a glitch in the footage, but you'll also see Mono climb back up then disappear. If you miss it start at around 7:09 and watch the edge closely.

WOW. I knew from the last video this one was going to be mind-blowing. I noticed that LN1 and 2 endings have a bit of connection becuase of the way Six is walking. The last minutes of the video got me thinking for how the story could go (in ideas of a fan, really). Starting with DARK SIX: the shadow was there by side Mono a few times, and even though it didn't appear throughout the entire last act of the game, she might have watched something, she might have seen the power, she might have been a witness of Mono's intentions to save her counterpart, and so, after Six finally was out of the tower, the shadow put on a "hunger" for power to force and urge Six to get it and come back at some time to give Mono freedom. I still don't know the most precise theory of why Thin Man kidnapped Six and why Monster Six acts like she does, or even why Six looked so "mad" after getting back to normal form (unless she understood everything at that point). But I imagine, if Six with the Lady's power is to return and fight the Signal, the tables may turn: she defeats what could be named Monster Mono but when he is back, he is the one to be mad and maybe the ending to that game would only be another origin for a void in the chest.

However, based on that, if you ever read this, i would like to ask a Question: When Little Nightmares 2 was still on its way, Bandai (and maybe Tarsier too) decided to show a section called Key Features on their website and one of the things that was shown in that section was this: AWAKEN YOUR INNER CHILD TO SAVE SIX FROM THE DARKNESS Six is fading from this world and her only hope is to guide Mono to the Signal Tower. In this world of nightmares, you are her only beacon of hope. Can you muster the courage to fend off your tormenters, and co-operate with Six to make sense of The Signal Tower? Now, what to know is, what do you think they meant by showing us these lines of text? ‘Cause when i went through the game, when it came out, i was expecting to get some sort of clarity to what they meant by all this, but that never happened, so now i am just left wondering what was the point of showing this to us, so I would like to know your take on this Tericho, what did this mean?

I dont know if this was in any theories, but i got an idea that Six got mad at Mono when he hit the music box because this music box was calming not only six, but the eye monster too. When Mono completely breaks the music box, Six gets back to her usual form, and the eye monster also gets back its "powers", because untill exactly that moment Mono was freely travelling in the tower, but after box was broken, monster started chasing him.

Hey, Tericho! Your theory videos are so interesting and entertaining! And honestly, your theory about the most simplest one likely being the true one, seems most reasonable to me. (It would also mean a happy ending for six and mono, soooo, Lol.) Especially since Six shows care for Mono throughout the game and Mono obviously caring for her as well when he rescues her so, so many times. In the end of Little Nightmares 2, we see Mono just sitting there in his chair. We don’t *see* him doing anything, like he’s waiting, passing time. We don’t *see* him capturing any more children, so that could also support your theory that Six is coming back for him, perhaps she told him her plan while he was hanging off the cliff. Or perhaps he just did the Thin Man stuff and we just didn’t see it. (Evidence to whether he did or didn’t really depends on whether the mobile comic about the little toddler boy in the woods takes place AFTER Six’s betrayal towards Mono, or BEFORE.) This theory also aligns with Six’s character, throughout Little Nightmares 1, we Six sometimes uses questionable means to achieve her goals, I can’t remember any right now, but she does. And she does so as well in Little Nightmares 2, for instance, when she kills the porcelain bully after being rescued by Mono. Perhaps Six went ahead with this plan, despite it’s rough edges, knowing that in the end, it would accomplish her goal of being reunited with her best friend, Mono. (Especially since a post by the official Little Nightmares Instagram from years back, mentions that Mono is Six’s “bff”, best friend forever. Further more, I think this theory is the most plausible seeing as it is simple, and while the “Six figured out Mono is Thin Man so she dropped him to break the cycle but just ended up continuing it” theory is also plausible, it would be second most plausible, with this one being first most plausible. NOW, that being said, I can only find *ONE* fault with your theory, perhaps other people have found more, I don’t know, Lol. In the Little Nightmares mobile comics, we are introduced to the little ghosty kid in one of the episodes-I believe it is episode 5-as you know. In that comic, we leave the ghosty boy’s story on a cliff hanger with him standing between a fall (or jump) backwards and two viewers. (In my opinion, he should’ve just jumped, Lol. His chances of survival would have shot up from like 20-30% to at least 50%.) Anyways, if I remember correctly, at the end of the comic, the viewers already begin trying to absorb/kill him. So, this little ghosty boy, unless Mono in disguise, which is highly unlikely, does NOT in any way have a connection to the signal or the TVs like Mono does. Yet the viewers still try to absorb him like they do when a player game overs as Mono in Little Nightmares 2 during the pale city apartments portion of the game. This contradicts your theory about how they want to ABSORB Mono and the signal, since they also tried to absorb the little ghosty boy. Despite this one contradiction, your theory makes a lot of sense! This is the first time I’ve heard it, but it seems to make the most sense, aligning with each of the characters’ personality and well, character, Lol. With the Little Nightmares games, you are only told what can be seen or deduced at *face value*. Aspects like Mono just WAITING as he is trapped, and Six showing care and likely loyalty towards him despite being a tough loner survivalist, can be deduced at face value while playing or (watching a gameplay, Lol) of the game. In fact, players likely often think the chase between the viewer mountain and Mono and Six will likely go on outside of the Signal Tower, that is, before the player is confronted by what seems like a betrayal on Six’s end. Also, it is quite interesting how the viewer mountain doesn’t seem to be chairing Mono when he is hanging from the ledge. Perhaps they got trapped on the other side? Or maybe they realized Mono was in a dire situation, and believed that while Six had gone through a lot with Mono and was tough, was still a weak child and could not hold on long enough or pull Mono up on her own, thus staying at the bottom of the two of them, eating for Mono to fall.

Also, I just thought of this, in the end of Little Nightmares 2, when Mono falls, *he does not scream*. This could be for tension and artistic effect, but, every other time he falls from very high up in the game, he screams and flails his arms (I think he flails his arms), right? So, why not this time? Perhaps Six told him her plan and he accepted it, knowing she would come back. Not gonna lie, though, all the angst six had when she pulls back her arm is kind of hard to explain. But it can be! What if it wasn’t *angst* but her forcing herself to drop Mono? That the idea of dropping him in the first place was a lot to bear and she had to *force* her body to physically do so and *not* try to grab onto him again. It is highly unlikely that she wouldn’t have been able to grab onto his hands again, but this is six we’re talking about.

Really, really like the thought of her trying to save mono. Not just because it's a nice ending, as you said we never get that, but it also shows why she's obsessed with power hunger, like killing the runnaway kid. Also I know I have no evidence really to back this up, but what if the TV she comes from in the secret ending is inside the maw, or in other words how does she make it to the maw. Probably by the boat the guests use or the boatsman

It seems like the Tower needs a "thin man" and was going to take one of the kids as a replacement. They couldn't both make it out. Six might have realized this from her brief stint as the tower's resident gangle monster. But Mono was the one to free and kill the thin man causing a need for his replacement in the first place. Six may have thought he deserved to fall for doing so or just that only one of them would make it out. You notice she walks out very slowly, knowing well that the tower won't stop her now that it has it's replacement thin man. If you subscribe to the time loop theory then it's probably extra happy to have it's OG thin man back.

IMO Six drops Mono out of spite over the music box. Her body language makes that clear in two ways: First, after you successfully destroy her music box and she goes back to normal, the way she ominously stands back up very much reads like "I'm about to end this boy's entire career." Second, when she drops Mono, she then strolls out the door completely nonchalantly. There's no sign of regret or remorse at all.

Six IS the lady grown up. The timeloop has happened 5 times before, look at the broken TVs in the forest at the VERY START of the game. Everytime Mono gets trapped, another Mono gets born through the TVs and hence we see so many of them broken. Six wants the power of the lady because she will become the next one, and she dropped Mono cuz she knows this is the only way things can be. Every main antagonist in the games has their own magic or power. Like Mono has the power of the signal, Six has the hunger, the teacher can make the bullies alive, the doctors can make the mannaquins alive etc.

I believe Mono becomes the signal because he's the only person committed to living outside of it so he's the only person who can provide the world with 'new content' for lack of a better expression. No one else in the city is really living, they're just waiting for new input from the signal. Six has decided to fight and dismantle the machine, or so it seems, while Mono gets dropped back in to be the distraction she needs to fight the good fight. Six definitely saw something and figured she did what was best to get the job done. There's so much in this game 😩

Tericho, I also wanna being to your attention two other concepts. First, looking at the footage of LN2's ending in your video versus other channels I've noticed that Mono's movements aren't the same. When Six catches Mono he tries to get her to pull him and even looks over his right shoulder at the bottomless pit before Six drops him. But in your footage, after he tries to get her to pull him up he just stops moving. I know it's a very small detail, but it's questionable and I've seen the ending enough times to notice that Mono's behavior isn't the same. The second point I wanted to call attention to is the cliff. In VLN and LN2 we have two characters that Six tries to help only for them to end up falling. In VLN the original raincoat girl died when Six tried to help her. What if in LN2, in some twisted way, Six knew that by not helping Mono that it would ensure his survival? I'm also playing off your idea of Six being a hex to those around her. So in retrospect, her doing good leads to bad things happening while her doing bad results in something positive.

this is a great theory! i would love to see a third game with six coming back to save mono. in another topic, i think shadow six is a residue of the signal, since she only appears after the thin man gets her. i also support one other theory that says six dropped mono because she knows he's *him* lemme explain, if we check mono's description it says that he covers his face because the world wants him to fail, or something like that, all the monsters (but the bullies) only chase after mono, like if they knew he was (as the thin man OR the signal) responsible for what happened to the world. mono was using his bag all along so, six couldn't really see his face. at the end she gets to see him closely and then she realizes who it is, so she drops him also expecting him to "fail" overall, great video! i always like your LN theories :D

Oh, also, I, myself, have a theory concerning Six’s abnormal hunger. I don’t know if you’ve covered it already, though, I haven’t seen your video on exposing Six’s hunger. But my theory is a bit simpler than what I’ve seen about it so far. In real life, when we eat a lot of food repeatedly or for a while, our stomachs grow in order to accommodate the extra food. (Or at least that’s what my mom told me when I was younger and wondered why I was hungrier, Lol.) I think you can already see where I’m going with this. Six only begins to become hungry AFTER she is turned back to normal size, thanks to Mono. If time is weird in the signal tower and she grew, becoming monstrous (and a bit deformed due to lack of space, perhaps? I don’t know.) she likely would have eaten as well. Especially if she stayed there for a LONG while compared to how long actually past while Mono was trying to save her. But that bit isn’t really needed for the theory. Either way, she grew, and grew, and grew. And what do stomach do when you grow? Well, they grow too! So, Six was rapidly made small again compared to how long she was large. With a larger stomach, she would’ve had a larger appetite in order to want to *fill* that large stomach. So, when she became small again, her appetite still remained. Like when you eat larger portions of food for a while, and when you go back to eating smaller portions, for a while, you still feel hungry after each meal. It would also make sense with the amount of time having passed between the events of Little Nightmares 1 and 2 not being clear. It seems Little Nightmares 1 takes place just about or almost immediately after Little Nightmares 2, meaning, her appetite would not have had time to adjust to her now smaller stomach. Of course, perhaps the fact that each thing she eats in Little Nightmares 1 becoming increasingly bigger, could disprove my theory a bit. Or maybe…it doesn’t? Everything is about the same size that she eats, a whole loaf of bread could fill someone up, so could a large rat. A little none about the size of the rat, could fill her up too. (Rest in peace, Runaway Kid….), considering that these things have organs and such, it would be quite the filling meal, adding to the idea of how it would fill her now adjusting appetite. The bread wouldn’t though unless like it really just had like A LOT of yeast or something, Lol. “And what about the Lady?”, you ask? Well, we don’t ACTUALLY see Six eat the Lady’s entire body. Just biting and chomping on her neck. The player can SPECULATE that Six ate her entire body, but like much else of Little Nightmares, *it has not been confirmed*. Keeping that in mind, with Six only eating the Lady’s neck, everything she eats throughout the game is relatively the same size. So, perhaps her appetite is now growing BIGGER, but already IS big, and is adjusting to becoming smaller once again? Also, my thoughts on the “Six dropped Mono so she wouldn’t eat him” theory goes as this, MONO IS AN ASSET WHEN CONSIDERING SIX’S HUNGER. 😭 Mono has TV powers, so he could just teleport to like a Starbucks or grocery store and get Six some food to eat!! Or perhaps take her with him to these places if she wasn’t thinking of eating Mono. The TV would just have to be on. And Mono and Six could just go around turning on all the TVs.

It is true that six feels pain with the hunger. However, in the secret ending, she didn't display any pain with the hunger, despite the stomach noises being clearly heard. So it's still possible she felt the hunger while holding Mono
