This is much easier if you simply finish this entire segment first then go back after the janitor is gone and the door is already opened with the mine cart.

If you turn on yout flashlight as soon as you enter the room with the cart you can see a dead kid.

You don't need to put the second statue to gain the trophy "ashes to ashes", you can take the book and move slowly (the boy's legs will appear to bug) behind the ghost mis, then you complete the quest.

I threw the wooden gnome down into the hole or whatever you wanna call it, and when I followed it down, it's nowhere to be seen. I walked around with the boy, pressing the grab button but he doesn't register at all, and I can't see it.

It would be much easier if you skipped the game to that chapter then complete the segment and then come back and get the gnome

+1 Maka. Proud patreon supporter supporting quality stuff, REGARDING POTENTIAL GLITCH on XB1. Although not as badly bugged as the collectible achievement (put a comment in Maka's other video, which you can check out here kzbin.info/www/bejne/pH6mpIarj9ZggLM) this one has a bad tendency to not pop after chucking your doll in the furnace. If this happens, close your game and quit out. Don't reload checkpoint, it won't help. Re-launch the game (not resume) and press continue. It'll launch you at the furnace; the doll is in an upright position to your left in quite an obvious position. Try again and it should work this time.
