I have visited the Little River Falls with someone I dearly love--my wife of 35 years. Liked it so well I moved here. I live 4 miles away.By the Grace of God

So sorry for your loss. It's so hard losing people we love. I find going to places like this maybe they are with us when we are there! What a beautiful place to live near. I also loved DeSoto Falls. And I stayed in the Holiday Inn in Fort Payne and really like the area.

I once saved a baby from drowning there. The family was picnicking with their only child, probably about 11 months old, who suddenly tumbled down the rock and was swept up by the water. I thought they would jump in, but they rushed to the water's edge and were to scared to enter it, watching their baby be swept away. I don't know who these people were, never met them before or since...but I jumped in as I was close the the falls edge and went upstream and picked the kid out who was face down....no flotation on him. I handed him to the parents who were in total shock. They immediately picked up their picnic table cloth on the ground with all the items in it and just ran up the path to their car and drove off...still in total shock. The kid was fine, but something like this was too much for people that evidently had no knowledge of swimming. We were raised like fish and it was all second nature. There was a lot more water coming over the falls the day I was there than in this beautiful video.

Wow amazing story! What a hero you are. You changed their lives forever. How long ago was this? I have been there one other time and the falls we’re flowing stronger. They really are so beautiful. The only thing that bothered me is the blue barrel that was stuck in the middle of them at the time lol.

I asked my wife and we think it was around 1999 that we were there. We weren't from that area, but her family is from Fort Payne area, so we were visiting relatives. So glad we could help out. All 4 of our kids were with us and any one of them would have jumped in to save the kid if I hadn't. Yes, it was like slow-motion when he tumbled down the rock and into the water and started to be swept away. There was more water there that day than in the video above. @@jeannesdroneventures6078

@@ihymns I’m sure the family is so thankful but I don’t understand why they took off like that without thanking you. When a person risks their own life to save another’s that is a special person!

@@jeannesdroneventures6078 They may have whispered a thank you, but I think the answer to that was that their whole system was in total shock and they just wanted to get as far away from water as fast as they could. Hard for people to understand that have been raised like fish....ha ha.....

I didn’t think you could fly a drone in a National Park. Did you run in to any park rangers? I definitely want to fly there.

From what I read it is a National Preserve not a National Park.
