I love how even tho frank ozz was upset about changing the ending he still made the most of it and made other small changes to help the ending.

I'll always love the new cut. I love Seymour and Audrey too much to accept their death.

I don't get why they cut the bullet scene tho it would not have harmed the ending at all and was a cool part to show how hard to stop towy is.

Well actually Little shop of horrors is actually released in 1986 directed by Frank Oz

I think the directors cut was more realistic and plus that’s how it was supposed to end but people hated it because they all died but well that’s Mother Nature for you

The final scene that comes right after is completely different too. In the theatrical cut it's a small happy scene, while in the director's cut it's much longer and darker. There's one last song called "Don't Feed the Plant." I prefer the director's cut ending

Getting older I honestly see where the test audience reaction came from. This ending is really mean spirited in nature. Both characters basically have not much of a flaw to them . Ones an orphan who is treated like a slave and the other is in an abusive relationship . Both there abusers were killed but the plant is the one manipulating Seymour’s emotions . And the movie goes out of its way to show the dentist died from his own error and the mushnik died because he’s he was led to the plant so I guess that was co-opted. Anyways the movie makes the leads to sincere . They didn’t want anything more than to just leave skid row. Alternative ending is cool but that’s it . If they wanted to include they could’ve easily done extra monologuing for Audrey 2 where he goes over what he’ll do when he takes over before Seymour’s interrupts.

I find the bad ending better: much more terrifying and cynical, it is devilishly tragic. It is one of the most spectacular bad endings! And above all it carries a much darker message about American society and consumerism. An inescapable fatality but with a big smile
