Little things can (and will) make a big difference in your playing! Just like dominoes, something small can set off a chain reaction that eventually will lead to enormous results.
In this lesson, Lisa breaks down 3 small changes you can make to your playing that will take you to that next level. And the best part? They're easy to implement and we take you through each one of them in this step by step lesson.
First, we break down sus chords. By changing one note in a triad you can begin to change the soundscape you are creating. You can invoke new emotions, surprise your audience, and enhance your music. Second, we look at slash chords. By simply changing the root note we play beneath our triad we open up a whole world of new and beautiful sounds. Lastly, we look at inversions. Just changing how you choose to play your chords or where you choose to play them will lead to an almost endless variety of melodic results.
So if you want to sound better on the piano make sure to start incorporating all the little things that make a big difference in your playing!

Boy was this collection of tips posted at the perfect time for me. I'm working on an original composition and was finding it a bit lackluster. DOH! It so needed some SUS and slash chords. It totally brought it back to life.

I also wish I could take in person lessons with you. I’m a senior lady who has always loved and dreamed of playing piano. I took almost 3 years of lessons from the ground up to about a beginning intermediate level. I’m thrilled to be able to at least read music again and work my way through some basic pop and classical pieces. Had to stop because of the pandemic. I’ve been saving all your videos from KZbin. Your teaching is so calming and clearly explained. I cannot thank you enough. I’m a widow and learn/play for my own joy and emotional support. You’re the best and most enjoyable I’ve found on KZbin. Please keep singing and teaching ❤️❤️❤️❤️

This lesson was a revelation. Im so glad I hauled myself off the couch to do it. Sooooo much going on. Lisa demystifies suss' and inversion chords, and plays around with slash chords in a 9 min lesson - all whilst introducing a neat chord progression (G, A maj, D maj, Bm). Best lesson I've had in months. I needed this! Thanks so much 😊

The sus cords give so much emotion to any song and slash cords helps create a new color to any cords . I also think inversions help create a journey to help develop different feelings in your music . Great teacher, but in all her videos she goes from whispering at times to super high pitched and about 9db louder. For these ears and admittedly cruddy speakers on my iPad it is not listenable for me. It literally hurts my ears. Sadly, I just can’t listen to her anymore. Compression anyone?
