Man what a great quartet. John Hiatt was fully aware of the potential in the late eighties. I think the album doesn't show off enough of the grittier live sound. It was very much a one-off but I like it's all grown up version of the band and the Traveling Wilburys... a little further down the road. Don't call it a stupor group!

This was Johnny Carson's last month on the show and he hand picked everyone who came on those shows. He knew these guys well, and as a drummer himself, Carson especially followed Jim Keltner.

Well, smarty pants, as I said above, Mr. Carson hand picked the artists for his last month so no one you every heard of was on air that month. And if you knew that Mr. Carson was a drummer and that Jim Keltner used to give him drum lessons - then you'd be a lot smarter person, especially if you google Mr. Keltner's discography.

I did read your post, and I'm aware of all their careers - I meant my post as a compliment; I wasn't slighting anyone. For an artist to do two songs was rare, since the show was no longer 90 minutes. And I was in a pretty good mood when I posted it.

They recorded just one record together as Little Village. It's okay I guess, but as a huge longtime Cooder, and Hiatt, fan and having seem Hiatt dozens of times, I'd say that the collaborative songs aren't quite up to John's usual songwriting standards; and for some reason the potential energy just didn't get captured onto tape. I didn't get to see them live on this tour but I've got a bootleg CD of a radio broadcast show where they were absolutely fantastic. This is, of course, the same band that played on Hiatt's Bring the Family record, which is indeed excellent. PS, Like yourself I am also a big David Lindley fan and I not only saw David play both solo and with El Rayo X a number of times, but I also saw Cooder and Lindley playing together 3 or 4 times. David's death just about wrecked me.

First of all, it's pretty bad that this is the only way possible to speak to your sorry ass! I just came from a clip you shared of Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Freebird" and would love to know why the comments are turned off? Clicked on your channel and couldn't find any contact with you there either?? So I ended up having to click on some random video and leave a comment in hope that you might actually see it! WOW! What are you SO afraid of man?? Anyway, I was going to share a cool bit of information about the concert (I was there,) between the Stones and Skynyrd who opened for them, about the big fight that ensued afterwards between them! You should allow people to comment on your stuff. A lot of people would have found it very interesting I'm sure.

the original Little Village from Connecticut, as you put it, was a good solid local band (I own their self titled LP) but in no way shape or form where they anything like Ry Cooter, John Hiatt Jim Keltner and Nick Lowe. I bet if you asked Mark Malucci from Little Village #1 he would be honest and admit that they were not in the same league as this supergroup.
