I love this scene of them helping the poor. When they came home, they were rewarded something better for their act of kindness.

I think that element with Old Laurence rewarding them with that Christmas breakfast is actually invented; in the 1995 movie, they are giving away their Christmas breakfast fully knowing it will not be replaced. They already have Christmas without presents, not even small gifts, so that breakfast is the only tangible thing they have of Christmas and actually having a replacement appear on their table takes the edge off the message. There is also a difference between the two scenes in who tells the girls to make that sacrifice: In this movie, it's the mother; she practically orders them to do it, and in the 1995 version the girls come up with it themselves (I think it's Beth who says it there).

@@christianealshut1123exactly. Also i think despite they didnt get to eat their breakfast they felt more joy from giving it away ❤

I got introduced to Little women by the soundtrack, and I am so glad I watched this movie. This version of the movie, and the soundtrack was a masterpiece!

Alexandre Desplat scored the 2019 version of Little Women, the same composer who scored other films like The Shape of Water, The Queen, The Grand Budapest Hotel; among others.

It's just like God to do this. First you give when you don't want to. This breakfast was special since it was Christmas, it wasn't their every day breakfast. When they chose to give it they probably figured they'd come home and have oatmeal. Then this huge blessing is waiting for them. It's just like God to do this though that isn't specifically mentioned. I am reading now "Marmee" by Sarah Miller which is Marmee relating the story in diary form. It's very good! Made me interested in this story all over again.

Something was so “off” about this movie. The actresses were trying way too hard; over emphasizing the special characteristics of each character and it was just weird. The 1994 version or even BBC’s 2018 version were far better!

The film is beautifully shot and well scored. Thats the only upside. The actresses dont look the younger versions of themselves

Yeah no thanks. The 1994 version is much better.
@EughhBrothereughhКүн бұрын
I'm so sorry but 1994 version is so much better and subtler at least. In this version marmee is so cringe when she tells the girls oh lets give your breakfast to the poor, oh look we're so kind, sooo nice. In 1994 it was OBVIOUS they were giving ot away without saying they were giving it away, and it was obvious they were kind people. In this version its so rubbed in your face like look how amazing the March family is. Also the moment they meet Laurie and marmee introduced herself is cringe af as well, she's all over the place not dignified, calm like Susan S version. Not to shade people who like this version. But this movie is overhyped from quite obvious rubbing their goodness in your face moments, and chronological mess to Emma's acting
