In the past, these ethnic minorities migrated to remote mountainous areas to escape war and basically lived a self-sufficient farming life. The government has always wanted to relocate them outside the mountains, but many local people are unwilling to move and hope to continue their traditional life. If they move outside the mountains, they will lack the means of survival. Only young people are unwilling to stay in the mountains, leaving only some elderly people and people without skills to continue living in the mountains.

Hope they can make their culture well know to the rest of China and can support them by purchasing their hand crafted goods!

Sadly in America, native first americans were herded into Reservations, their food source were deliberately targeted, native bisons were systematically destroyed by early european settlers, not for food but to starve these natives, in the hope that they would give up their lands so the settlers could harvest gold and oil.

Eya village I found is like "a place where time stood still". The young and older woman working so hard with thread for bags, I know they are happy in their own little world (but I got sad and those poor horses 😢) How kind to offer you what little they have, very hard workers and proud. Poverty in China is not material, it is mainly in healthcare and education, and this remote area lacks healthcare and children have to go to the city to go to school.Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture is the poorest area in China, and it would be hard to find a poorer city than this area. The annual per capita income in this region is less than 8,000 US dollars, and even so, it still has running water, electricity, and roads. As for mobile phones, the cheapest Xiaomi and Huawei are even less than $100. It's hard to find an old person without a smartphone.

I hope their leaders will do the same with their neighboring southeast asian countries. RESPECT NEIGHBORS and Live in harmony & peace. No island grabbing in the West Philippine Sea. No invented nine dash line. No bullying of other countries' coast guards. RESPECT

@@MAY051260 Unlike in the U$, ethnic black americans, asians, or I should say, non whites will forever be second class. It is part of European history and culture, as soon as anyone else is doing better, they will be knock down by new laws and "enforcement agencies". That's the American way Just look at U$ vassals of SK, JAP, PH, all are subject to U$ policy, will never be sovereign, will always be goaded to fight other Asian neighbors in return for some $$$ which benefits the U$ selected president like BBMarcos, the entire family is a known C!A asset, this is not news, everybody remember Ferdinand Marcos and Imelda and her multi trillion shoe collections.
