I like playing both Diancie and Vengeful Punch in this deck too, mainly Punch, Punch is decent backup for the deck and the Diancie is also a decent switch plus both of them together helps stop them from bossing to avoid the punch

I like vengeful punch in this deck. If for whatever reason everything falls apart a vengeful punch on a mimikyu after a kaboom holds you down.

I was trying to find some tech that would prevent kaboom from fully KOing claydol - some kind of damage reducer or extra little HP, but didn't see anything in standard format that would do it.

At least in expanded we have big charm, this deck is absurd with drizzle/inteleon engine and any pokemon that poison when it evolves+scoop up net

I’ve been trying to make the Claydol / Trevenant combo work with Zoroark. The concept seems viable but I can’t figure out how to reliably not brick.

Does garganacl that heal 20 dmg between checkup prevent claydil from getting knocked out? It requires too much setup to actually work, but it would be pretty cool to see

Unfortunately, no. claydol kills itself at the end of its turn. Any universal damage reduction hp increase or preventing self or psychic damage would work to save it.

My man LDF is the best creator on the block, great deck. Could you make a mimikyu control deck? I've been toying the idea to pair it with the weavile that triples the amount of counters a pokemon has, just to finish big pokemons, or maybe the other mimikyu that hits for every counter on the oponent's pokemon.

i hate to spoil your party, but do Toedscruel ex or Snorlax stop Claydol's attack ? They both have the keywords "Prevent all effects of attacks . . .", and i have at least saw a Toedscruel ex stopped Giratina VSTAR's Star Requiem 😅

Claydol will be on everyone's radar now as future sets release. It's a Big Charm away from being a huge problem.

I’m not sure if it’s worth turning it into a two prizer with the upcoming tool (+100 HP, and gives up an extra prize), as then you’ll be breaking even with prizes at best, and having 80 HP left is really low and usually wouldn’t last long. The only hope is if the opponent doesn’t have a backup attacker. It will be a huge problem though if they start printing three prizers again.

If there was a stadium card that allowed you to attach 2 tool cards to 1 Pokémon you could just slap bravery charm and Vengeful punch so even if it got knocked out next turn the opponent would also be knocked out

It is a very fun deck. How about trying Trevenant (OBF008) instead of Clodsire ex? Trevenant can ignore Path to the Peak. And stage 1 card same.

Nope, it would only work with a tool that gives more HP to the pokemon, damage reduction only works for your opponent attacks. In expanded you can use big charm that gives +30 hp

You haven't learnt anything from your first match into your second one. First match, you bench a second bidoof, which hardly helps you at all, then the enemy bosses your only clodsire and you can't do your combo anymore. Second game, what do you do? You bench a second bidoof which again, doesn't help you at all, the enemy bosses your only clodsire and you can't do your combo anymore. Ffs, bench a whooper so you can in a pinch evolve it in case the first one gets destroyed. Also don't just willy nilly evolve it if you aren't doing the combo, so the opponen't can't just read the abilities and know what your strategy is, not to mention the clodsire gives 2 prizes. You want the opponent to waste boss orders on 1 prizers, that's amazing for you.
