The Concept of "Dolly Money".. .Do You Have a Separate Fund for Dolls?

Over the years, I've heard collectors refer to "dolly money", which is a separate fund for dolls. Is this something that you ascribe to? How has it worked out for you? Since I definitely have overspent on this hobby in the past year, this is something I'm really interested in exploring. Please share your thoughts! :) xoxo

Great Topic! I definitely have a Separate Dolly Account. It helps me to keep an eye on how much I'm Spending on Dolls and Accessories and Clothes, etc. for My Dolls. If My Dolly Money runs low then I know I have to Slow Down, Lol. Mia looks so Pretty in both of her Outfits. Hugs :-)

never heard of "dolly fund". good way to save. i am not able to do that as well, i just have to clear out the budget and go for it and nothing else! love that outfit on her!

I don't have a specific fund for just dolls, but I have a general "fun money" fund for any type of non-essential things I want to buy. This way I can stay in budget. I have a short term and long term for things I'm trying to save up for that are more expensive, this way I can keep saving toward those and still have "fun money" to spend in the meantime. If there is a really good deal on something I really want, then sometimes I "steal" from the long term, but I try not to and I will "pay it back" the next time and take away from the short term that time.

Before retirement and my back surgery I used to have 2 separate funds, one for my doll collection and one for my sewing machine find. I don't do anymore since I can not even work part time since my back surgery. I did really good back then

I have 4 reborns and 1 silicone baby doll, and 10 Ashton drake baby dolls and I am very satisfied with my collection, I don't get tempted to buy more I think it's because I know I can't afford it, besides I have plenty of them.

I’m responding 2023 😂, I love the new born realism of this particular doll you are featuring ❤… I had mad money set aside and completed a big selection of vinyls and 3 silicones -I have paid and Recvd my 4th silicone but -saving it for 2023 Christmas 🎄 and labeled it from my parents … I pre buy and set aside for a special occasion on my silicones … some day would love to get a Strydom baby … I have always had a doll collection (porcelain - bisque -antique) but didn’t invest in reborns until 2023 … I have 3 more sculpts I am saving for the near future in vinyls … my fave though are silicones

I have taken the personality tests. I am strict and believe in following a budget. I do have the money to buy these dolls, but I restrain myself. I love the dolls and being a part of the doll groups. I like to listen to how people are addicted to the hobby and how much money they spent and I learn from them to not get stuck in their pattern of living. So, I enjoy looking and listening.

Ok so I just bought my first Reborn baby for a reasonable price, yet I don't have a lot of props and clothes and baby stuff. I am struggling financially, so I found a way to keep the hobby going just as I do in real life. I shop at thrift stores on sale day or go to clothes closets and food pantries to get free clothes and baby formula because that stuff can be expensive.

I'm very blessed,my beautiful Eleanor was a gift ,from a family member,she's my one and only,but she does have a clothing budget,lol I hope to have 2more in my collection,so I know for my dream babies I will have to save ,save , save,I think dolly money is a good idea, A special savings, because I see that this hoppy is very expensive ,so until I win the lottery, it's just going to take time and patience🍼👶👼🚼🐣🐤🐥

Excellent Excellent video Lynn!!! I feel like I have that same personality trait!! I had some money in savings for awhile and I was so afraid that the way this hobby was going I might dip Into it as I already probably took 3000.00 from it so I actually made a big investment and used all the money in one lump sum on this investment just so the money wouldn’t be liquid anymore and there would be no risk of me touching it. ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Oh if I’m not commenting back it’s because I’m having trouble with my new phone and notifications!
