7:32 ironically, Jaden's dueling style basically cemented modern Yu-Gi-Oh. He relied on lots of extra deck monsters by using main deck monsters as fodder, using lots of searching cards, special summoning more than normal summoning, and the use of needlessly convoluted gimmicks to add personality to the archetype Only thing he tried doing that never took off was having several spells and traps that worked specifically for one monster

GX's style I would call more of a prototype. The shift to Fusion was definitely a portent of what was to come, but extra deck mechanics never quite took off in that era because Fusion was still a remarkably cumbersome mechanic given the reliance on such specific cards to produce anything of value. The Synchro era I think was when extra deck dominance was cemented.

One card for avian, one card for bubbleman, one card for Burstinatrix We have stuff like several cards for Galaxy Eyes photon Dragon, Several cards for Dark Magician, Several cards for Odd-eyes Pendulum Dragon... but we don't really have twenty different cards that only work for their one member of the archetype and are otherwise useless with the rest of the monsters

I love how convoluted the writing had to get so he could get neos out to contact fuse later on. My favorite being when he uses poly on 2 monsters in hand to then use defusion on the new monster to get the 2 fused monsters back just to sacrifice them for neos. His whole hand just for a 2500 vanilla cuz the deck revolved around it lmfao

After beating Abidos Jaden obtains the Shadow Charm Circlet, which when worn allows the wearer to return from the dead and assume physical form. This means that until someone takes it from him for the rest of time Jaden will run around telling people to get their game on.

I think the implication of Abidos remembering the "gossiping" is that he *assumed* that they were annoyed cause they could never beat him, but were still forced to duel him. But now, after being handed his arse by Jaiden; who isn't even trying very hard, he understands that they all just LET him win.

Just wanted to point out that in the japanese, Jaden gives a much more understandable response to Abidos request. "Do you mind waiting a 100 years?" Basically saying that he would be perfectly fine dueling Abidos day in and day out after he kicks the bucket. Abidos's response? "Well I already waitined 3000 years, whats another 100?"

Why would he respond like that when it was always true? In fact, what you've said there was literally true of them, unlike, say, the Nintendo Switch. The Game Boy (and every Nintendo system up to and including the 3DS family) can be played with zero batteries anywhere near it off of an adapter. The Switch, however, has to have of a battery that can keep a certain amount of charge in it for it to work because it will not even turn on unless it has that amount of charge. We've gone technologically backwards in so many ways. Mostly thanks to the video game industry getting away with things no one should have been able to and making it seem "normal".

1. I think its implied that after Zorc was sealed away and the Milennium Items were scattered, the dark magic used to make them and to perform Shadow Duels was either forbidden or forgotten by most. (Hell, the origins of the Milennium Items were kept secret even from Atem's father) 2. Them not using Shadow Dules makes sense since I'm guessing that would put the servants in an evem worse position. Either they lose and get their souls sent to hell/die or they kill their own Pharaoh and are executed right after lol

@@filipvadas7602 Even with the millennium items, they could fight without putting their souls at risk. Atem's priests trained by fighting each other. They were using their souls to manifest the monster, but as long as they didn't go all-in it just made them a bit tired when the monster was destroyed. The loser losing their soul was just what most modern shadow duels set as the punishment, but they didn't need to do it.
