Your English is very good. Many Europeans develop more of an American accent (from the movies) but yours is a classy British accent and it sounds much better. Refreshing to hear.

I was married to an Estonian and visited there for a few days a long time ago. MIna armastan eesti keel! Vaga ilus! Your English is almost native speaker good, with one teeny exception: in American English, we don't "revise" (unless we are actually changing or correcting something); in your lessons, what you are doing at the end is "reviewing" (going over again). Tanan vaga!

Roberto Baca It's interesting... In Serbian (Slavic language) there is no trillion There is milijarda and it's equivalent is English billion

42ADW It is interesing. In French and Spanish one would say "milliard" or "millardo" for 1.000.000.000 (though in Spanish "mil millones" is more common), and then "billion" and "billón" for 1.000.000.000.000. Instead Estonian uses "triljon", a mixture of short scale and long scale.

@LittleMissSquirrel8 жыл бұрын
+Kalos Paidi Not really , if you just look on the language basis. The words used are usually different or if similar then they might have different meanings. You have to guess a lot. If you look at Korean and Japanese, they have very similar grammar but then, the languages are totally different. So you can think in similar way.

I'm sure there will be some people, it also depends if you'd be doing it in English or in Estonian. If you will do it in estonian, the older generation who didn't learn english at school would be able to follow you. In that case your Estonian would had to be on a pretty good level :D. If in English then perhaps more advanced English would be better idea because the general level of English is quite good. But just follow your heart! Do what you feel passionate about. KZbin is a free space for any type of art form so if you are passionate about teaching Estonians some English then go for it.

@Deines710 жыл бұрын
Haha, white and black, how can be similar? Neither sound, neither words don't have any similarities not only with Slavonic languages but even with Germanic, Baltic and whole Indo-European languages families. Most similarities they got with Finnish and Karelian languages because belongs to same Baltic-Finnic languages roots.
@chutzpahboo9 жыл бұрын
YueseiYuno SakuraKonan Maybe they sound as similar to an Asian person, as much as any Asian languages sound similar to average European person? If you rarely hear certain languages, I can see how they could perhaps sound alike...a little bit. To me, Estonian sounds anything but Slavic.

U dent need to learn finnish! There IS NOT any "I don't understand this" Try to read this, FULL FINNISH!! Hei! Minun nimeni on Vilma. Voin puhua enlantia ja suomea, ja ymmärrän viroa(estonia) samalla tavalla kuin ukrainalaiset venäjää. Pidän viron kielestä koska se kuulostaa tutulta, kuin turkulaiselta murteelta! Is this hard to you? Did u understand anything? You are from estonia?

I as a native estonian, I understanded following: All words in first sentence(row), whit exception of Ymmärrän. From second row i honestly didnt get the sentence,until i used translate button. but from words i understanded following: Viron, Kielesta(language), Koska("because", if i am right. Its "Kuna" in estonian). i know turku is a part of shout helsinki, and Murteelta means like a dialect
@kilmameri10 жыл бұрын
Yes! Hi! My name is Vilma. I can speak English and Finnish, and I can understand Estonian just like Belarusians Russian. I like Estonian because it is so familiar (Word to word: Because it hear familiar), like Turku slang/accent. Can you write me estonian? :D
@justaparps808810 жыл бұрын
Muidugi, pole probleemi. Ja sõna "Raiskama", mis tähendab "vägistamist" soome keeles, tähendab eesti keeles millegi raiskamist, näiteks raha. Of course, no problem. And word "Raiskama" what means "rape" in finnish, means wasting something, like money.
@kilmameri10 жыл бұрын
:D I did understand without translation probleemi, ja, soome, keeles, eesti and raha. Ja and raha are excatly (if you write it like that...) same. And raiskama... It is raiskata, raiskaus jne. Do you know finnish verb shapes? How do they go? If you do, is estonian that hard? I put here istua, sit verb :D Istun istut istuu istumme istutte istuvat istutaan Istuin istuit istui istuimme istuitte istuivat istuttiin Olen istunut olet istunut on istunut olemme istuneet olette istuneet ovat istuneet on istuttu Olin istunut olit istunut oli istunut olimme istuneet olitte istuneet olivat istuneet oli istuttu They are there like I sit you sit he/she sits we sit you sit they sit, and this one when we don't know, who do sit. They are then future/now, past, perfekt and pluskvamperfekt. And then negative form :D I am not going to write it, you did get it.
@justaparps808810 жыл бұрын
We estonians write exactly like we speak, difference may become when its gramatical. Like we may spell 3 words in a sentence as separate enities, however we write them together( i dont remember the rule, but i can give you a example i learned year ago(during my mother language class last year)) My task was to find 10 mistakes in internet new pages and fix those mistakes in my homework report, like making a small essee Example: Raketi ehitussimulaator/ Rocket building simulator ( Kerbal Space Program, a scifi game whit calculating certain values and manovering/building a rocket capaple of reaching space/planets. I wrote all of those words separatly (based on my mother language instincts(since we don't spell them together)). However teacher told me there was a rule about: If two "S" letters are side by side, for some strange reason the words becomes one bigger word. Another example could be Raudtee (Railroad in estonian), it has a similar rule why its written together). Estonian language has about 14 active cases, but wikipedia says another one exists. However i have always learned in school that 14 cases exists. (right now i am learning profession ( IT), it is about 12 class in gymnasium here. Those cases are mostly about : 1-3) Description about item/person, who owns him/her/it, and what that "subject" owns. 4-6) Description about "in" state, like in a drawer, in someones body or similar. 7-9) Description about "on" state, like on a table, on a person. 10-14) These are different. First of them is "saav", what stands roughly for becoming someone/something. Second of them is "Rajav". Its hard to translate, best description would be like building a path to something. Third is about "Being something/someone". Fourth is about "being whitout someone/something" Fifth is about "being whit someone/something" Also Estonian language is one of those languages, where gender dosen't exists, if we talk about a person, we use word: "Ta", what means he/she. And because of that, words dont change if we talk about him or her(unlike what happens in Russian language).
