Jade appreciation post: Let’s start with the obvious- she is the queen of note changes and ad libs. Her dance movements and facial expressions are so captivating; my eyes never leave her for a second. I still cannot grasp how she can flawlessly belt and hit the G#5 while DANCING. Everyone losing their shit at the highest notes, but the reason this song is hard is actually because of how low the melody is. Seriously, props to Leigh-Anne for being able to nail her part of the song: she has the highest-pitched voice in the group, and she's singing her verses like she's a damn mezzo. Like, Perri and Jade obviously do it amazing too, but Leigh-Anne has the added difficulty of her voice naturally sitting higher, and yet she nails the low notes!

All right, I said this in the MTV International "Sweet Melody" live, and I'm saying it again. haters who are saying shit, listen up. This group is a western vocals-based group, not a kpop gg where choreo is one of the main attractions of their performance, and choreo is a b-side necessity in this performance while singing is the most important part. Now there are so many kpop ggs with synchronized choreo which is definitely attractive to the eyes, and LM's choreo (at least the hands movements) HERE isn't very synchronized or hard but they require energy. To keep up with that stamina and sing live stably and hit high notes - all at the same time are freaking tough. I have a friend who's a dancer and she said so. plus if you notice the other western singers, they also somewhat dance when they sing so while this was a choreo-related performance vocals show-off is more important here. And their chorus is PR, not live. don't make it sound like it's a crime to use PR. all singers use it in their performances, intense choreo or not. but other than the chorus, they're live. I'm sure you can hear their live voices if you're used to listening to them. at the end of my lecture I know many haters are going to call me a xenophobe for bringing in kpop here (it's seemed to become a trend, but no matter how you look at it western and kpop groups are entirely different in aspects of choreo and vocals), fyki, I'm an asian. and now over-dramatic people might say I'm pitting artists against one another, but no honey. I'm simply showing you the difference, not comparison. Thank you.
