Hey Michele. Goodness, I am sorry that you were sick but it is good that you are feeling better and back in the studio. And the good news is that now you probably have a lot of polymer clay to play around with this idea

Lady! You’re amazing! Those are some great tools. I suppose you could make almost any tool with polymer clay. I have an idea for getting it off the counter when it’s stuck. Maybe a metal kitchen board scraper/dough cutter? Some of them even have a useful ruler on the sharp edge. ❤️🤗🐝
@annruel1982 Жыл бұрын
Aww...thanks so much Deborah. Great ideas. The biggest problem I had was when I moved the clay the cuts distorted so I was thinking that just doing the cutting right on the cookie sheet that you would be putting in the oven might work the best to keep your design straight. Then you dont have to worry about that, right

Fab ideas, must remember to try this when I finally get set up! I work with polymer clay on a floor tile, I've also put it on printer paper which leaches some of the oils from the clay but bakes just as well and then sand the edges with wet n dry for a smooth edge. I go up to 1200 grit but I'm doing jewelry, hope this helps a little.

Polymer clay! Genius - thanks for a great idea. I have a “Marvelous Mold” brand template for really cute buttons and I can’t seem to separate the clay from the form without it completely distorting. I can’t wait to try polymer clay! Happy Saturday! 😊💜
@annruel1982 Жыл бұрын
Yeah! Im so glad you like that. Great idea with to make a mold with. Go for it and if the clay does have trouble releasing, perhaps try a little bit of corn starch on the clay.
@JohnLowes Жыл бұрын
That’s the ticket, dust your clay with cornstarch before putting it in the mold. Those buttons are cute, but tend to get stuck in the mold. Also use a clay “handle” to stick to the buttons to help pull them out.

Ann, you are brilliant! I have drawers full of polymer clay! Yes, I play with that kind of clay too! Ha! Ha! Couple things. Sculpy III is not good for tools. It’s too brittle, but Premo Sculpy and and Fimo are great choices. Make sure you bake at the temperature recommended on the package and I bake mine for 1 hour. It makes it stronger and a little more flexible. Also, don’t use kitchen ware to bake or roll it out. Use your clay tools. Just be careful. It can be addictive too!😂😂😂❤️❤️❤️ You are the best!Oh, and while you are at the craft store, pick up some embossing folders and make texture sheets with them too.

Awesome tips especially about the polymer clay. I dont have as much experience with that so your tips are so helpful. I figure I can just keep the template and make more of the ribs if I have something that breaks. haha.

Thanks for the great idea, however, is this strong enough to last and resist the pressure on it ? Or is polymer clay break easily with use ?
@annruel1982 Жыл бұрын
Hi Nouchca. That is a good question. I havent had one break but Im thinking that is the rib is breaking perhaps you could roll out a slab that is a bit thicker to withstand the resistance or perhaps soften your clay a little before you throw. The good news is that if your rib does break, you can easily and quickly make another one, haha. Good luck.
@nouchca Жыл бұрын
@@annruel1982 thanks for the prompt answer = ) yes sure you can make another one but you don't want to break your special tools ! Anyway this technique allowed to make any shape you want in a very short time +++
@annruel1982 Жыл бұрын
@@nouchca that was the best part to me. YOu are right about not wanting to break your special tools. Keep your template handy for the rib that you make just in case you need to make more than one. 🙂

@annruel1982 Жыл бұрын
Hi Julie. I was trying to think of what material to use too. I didnt have all the necessary tools for the wood for a really polished rib and didnt want to mess with metal. I even thought about cutting perhaps a dustpan but the polymer clay made much more sense, was cheaper and easier.
@rachelluke19053 ай бұрын
Very cool! Anyone know if the polymer clay is fragile once baked? I’m know to accidentally drop tools and would hate to lose these quickly after making them
