God I love your husband..doing the heavy lifting so you don't hurt yourself. He is such a good man❤ My Mom knew how to butcher so way back in my youth we would get a whole butchered cow and cut it up. We usually got it in March and did it in the freshly cleaned garage. We had an industrial meat saw, grinder and so many butcher knives. I can remember standing on a box so I could reach the table and my job was to cut chunks of meat up to grind. It was so cold and it was really a full family job.

Back in the day I worked at a meat market, we had a industrial meat grinder we used that thing every day several times. At the end of the day we had to clean it up, it was so easy to clean up. Watching you brought back memories. I wish I was still able to work. We had a ball. Thanks for the bringing back those memories. Y’all did a great job. Thank you for sharing.

Should have watched all the way thru. You do double grind. One of these days, I'm going to make my own sausage. I'm 67 , and I can remember watching my parents grind meat, especially venison every year. Now that I'm older, lately I'm remembering so much stuff I did with my parents. God bless you too!!! Talking a lot to you today, hope you don't mind.

We use to do three cows in two days and also did pigs together as a family…..I was the grind master…lol….I did 80 / 20 grind on sausage and hamburger…..our grinder was bigger but yours is really nice for a family use. Two men were on the butchering, two people on the trimming and cutting, two people on the vac sealing….and myself grinding……no one did bone broth then…I did a little but I didn’t have enough freezer space to store all of it…… It’d been nice to have several roasters set up and just put the bones right into them and not wrap or freeze them….I always cook mine for two days….. I really miss those days….my son raises his beef but he uses a butcher shop now and it’s too expensive for me to buy half a cow and have it processed on top of it……this last time we were given someone else’s tough meat because his beef was always buttery soft no toughness……they were caught cheating people but nothing was legally done to them😡

3 something a pound (sorry forgot the exact amount) what a godsend for some of those cuts of meat. So many of them are more expensive per pound. And just like you, I would do the same in July. My parents used to get a huge piece of beef from the store and have it cut to their specific needs. It's hard to find that anymore.
