One of the big issues I have with Stardew Valley is that I never feel relaxed because I feel like Im always racing the clock. This energy mechanic sounds MUCH. BETTER.

My thoughts exactly too!! I'd feel so rushed in Stardew that I ended dropping it. Littlewood looks like it might resolve that gripe. 👍

I’m around 70+ hours now on this. Can’t recommend it highly enough. One thing not mentioned here is that the game has a story to it that slowly emerges as you keep playing. Overall the systems are all much deeper than what the game seems like in the beginning. Can’t believe just one guy made this.

I really enjoy Stardew Valley and Harvest moon, but the live clock mechanics always have me anxiety, so time moving with your activities seems like such a cool concept to me. This is definitely something I'll keep an eye out in case there's a sale. The review was very well written and super helpful!

What a steal of a game. I really like the timing mechanic being based on energy expenditure as opposed to a clock. In Stardew I always felt like I never had enough time to get everything done I wanted to. Definitely picking this one up, thanks for the review y’all!

In Littlewood there is a really OP Item that lets you turn back time and make you stamina bar to zero allowing you to continue farming or mining even if your stamina is full

Can confirm this is fantastic. I’ve barely been able to put it down. It’s a simplified Stardew mixed with Forager style levelling. Well worth it.

Love seeing you all review this game, thanks Rob! I picked it up on release day a couple weeks ago and have adored my time there so far. It’s been perfect for me to have as a relaxing game to play in bed a bit before sleeping (one night getting so sucked in that I went to bed too late, oops!), or just to play for a quick session during the day. The game loop is very addicting, and as someone who is generally a fan of these types of games I am happy to have a new one to play!

You could also get the eShop card from like Amazon or something or have someone buy it for you! I looked on his Twitter and he said the EU version should be coming soon once Nintendo EU approves it tho!!

I am also obsessed with finding the next feel good game like A Short Hike. Animal Crossing and Story of Seasons are excellent but tedious to play, therefore I was not interested to come to it. So Littlewood is a must-buy?

@@pacer1705 It depends on why you found Animal Crossing tedious. It’s relaxed in that there’s nothing pushing you to complete certain tasks. You just complete what you want. Things require resources that you must gather, though. But it’s more relaxed than Story of Seasons style games since there’s no timer on your day.

Great review Rob! This game is definitely going on my wishlist. I know a lot of people find Stardew Valley relaxing, but I always feel rushed thanks to the timer. I've found it much more enjoyable with mods to slow down the time, but unfortunately you can only do that on the pc. Little Woods sounds like the perfect alternative for me to play on the Switch.

@@sgtbattleaxe At first i just thought it was a low effort shovelware version of stardew valley, but if you play for a while you realize that there are many things to set it apart. I was put off a bit by the way that everything happens instantaneously at first (make a building and you don't even have to wait until the next day for it to be finished) but I realized that this is a design choice rather than a shortcoming. The fact that everything is done without any sort of upgrade time etc. makes everything feel so gratifying to do because as soon as you have the necessary materials, it is done. It also has an enormous amount of content if you stick it out. It may seem like there's not that much you could possibly do in such a small town, but there are tons of new buildings, villagers, events, upgrades, crops, and expansions to be had. Plus there are additional areas to be unlocked via the balloon pad which allow you to get all sorts of other materials. The game has a fantastic soundtrack and a minimalist art style to match the overall minimalist and instantaneous nature of the game. To me, the game is just very satisfying and it hooked me in a way that made it tough to put it down (I may or may not have spent upwards of 8 hours playing this game multiple days in a row). Ultimately, taste is entirely subjective so I can't fault you if you don't like it. It may be great fun for me and utter crap for you. If that's the case, I'm sorry that people like me convinced you to buy it! But if you only played for a little while, I would recommend at least putting in 5 hours or so to see if it grows on you the same way it did for me!

That list of games you play to relax would be great. I find Breath of the Wild to be a game that when I play, I feel so at peace. Have never played an Animal Crossing or more 'farming' type games.

Really a great game, I actually Kickstarted this because it looked cute, got it on pc. But I held out to wait till I got my switch key to play it. It's just perfect for handheld play, I love the characters too, more than once I've genuinely laughed heartily. Good stuff!

Littlewood is a game that reminds me quite a bit of Old School Runescape. Everything you do can level up, but it won't be tedious for a genre fan.

I backed Littlewood ages ago and wasn't sure if the game actually is getting released, but it did. Its developer always interacted a lot with the his backers and even will give everyone a Steam and Switch Key. This game is a small gem, like Stardew Valley was back in the day. OMG, I remember Metropolis Mania! I picked it up when I was about sixteen at Blockbuster, used! They used to sell games they didn't want to rent anymore, which is how I got some of my GameCube and PS2 games! I loved MM, even with the sometimes funky English and limited character models. However, I was never able to finish it because my disk was dammaged when I got it, and it had a stutter in the between-town cut sceens! The one after the 2nd town I couldn't get past at all, so couldn't play anymore! Anyway, thanks for mentioning that game, I thought it was pretty obscure!

It seems to be very true that men think about this way more than women. Most women don't care at all about size unless it is SIGNIFICANTLY small or large (and yes, too big is a thing as well lol).

I really enjoy playing this. I was thinking it felt like a hybrid of the gameplay of Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley. You are the only one supplying the pressure, and I really like like the flow. The things I'd like to see added is the ability to add steps up to the sides and backs of raised land, instead of just on the front, and the ability to rotate the village by 90 degrees.

I can review it for you. It sucks! And I love farming games, it's bland, and the repeating fetch quests are super annoying. If Doc calls me one more time asking for 2 lumber or 3 bronze I'm going postal. Trying to make progress is a chore, I'm 15 hours in and I only have 2 tools upgraded, it's not a fun grind either. I tried hard to like it, and it gives a little enjoyment at times but then I realize I have Littlewood, Stardew valley, SOS mineral town to play instead, and SOS olive town coming soon. All of which are better. Even though I haven't played SOS olive town- it can't be this bad. 😔 I feel like I took 50 bucks and threw it out the window.
