Honestly my guess is that Liu Kang views this Kiatana differently. He basically crafted her and her origin as God. I guess he sees everyone in the MK1 verse as his children or people under his care rather than pure equals like his former combatants. Gone, like every timeline and kharacter before the end of MK11. Kronika reset time completely back to zero before Liu Kang could beat and replace her, so he has no way of actually reviving her, or anybody else of either his time-line nor the one established in MKX. Hence why takeda has changed so much, he is technically now a completely different character then before.

Hell nah. I doubt netherealm would pull some shit like this. Also remember the devs intentionally cut out some intro dialogues between kitana and Liu kang in the beta and demo. Characters in this game have 5 different dialogues between each other but Liu and kitana only had 2 in the beta. They probably cut the others out because of spoilers. Kitana and Johnny also have similar dialogue where it sounds like they’re flirting with each other. Even some of the mirror dialogues with kitana in mk x made it sound like she liked kung Lao.

SPOILER ALERT: I like how Liu is only loyal to one version of Kitana.... the one he had to leave behind... he could've easily made this version mirror her feelings toward him... he could've even told her about his feelings for the Kitana from the other timeline... but no... he has a will of steel... most of us if not all of us would have crumbled under the weight of such a sacrifice... in a way I suppose it soothes him to think that this isn't his Kitana... but at the same time it may sadden him to think that he had to erase his Kitana to form a peaceful reality... that was until he realized there was a timeline where his Kitana had to make the very same sacrifice.... MK-1’s timeline Kitana clearly has no interest in Raiden. But Liu-Kang doesn’t really care to be honest. It’s not even the same Kitana from his timeline. But he can’t be with her anyway due to his duty of being a god. MK’s gods can’t have romantic relationships due to their duties. Liu-Kang still loves his Kitana, but can’t pursue a relationship unless he gives up his duty and position which he himself cannot afford to do. But he will get over it. He has endured not being with Kitana for millions of years. Even after their reunitment, it couldn’t happen as his Kitana had to return to her timeline and he must continue doing his job protecting the timeline he started.

That ending was canon and this is obviously 500 years later when Mortal Kombat is supposed to take place, just like in the OG timeline except the Great Kung Lao was killed by Goro whereas in this new timeline it’s implied Liu Kang trained the Great Kung Lao to survive the tournament this time around
