The word emotion is derived from the latin word: “emovere” meaning to move, move out or move through. Emotion is the essence of movement and so dance, at its essence, is about expressing the deep emotion that comes from the very core. This seems to me to be what the Master of Dance has talked about recently, the importance of passion in young dancers not being seen as less important than technique, which can be sterile. To watch him dance in many styles, reflecting many emotions is inspiring. He shows how through dance, our purpose is to express emotions, communicating physically, allowing those feelings to move through the body, out of the body, and in doing so, to move others. The music, which carries the emotion, seems to flow through him into movement. It is graceful, often passionate, frequently awe inspiring, but always moving our emotions. As Shannon remarks - his dancing often makes me smile. Thank you to the Fans club for uploading this compilation.
