1st step: You "Sell to Open" a PUT You collect the premium. 2nd step: You see the cost to "Buy to Close" is 50% or less of the premium you received when you orig sold the Put. 3rd step: You decide to "Buy to Close" your PUT early. So you spend a portion (e.g. 30-50%) to close, but you keep 50-80% of the original premium. Now your money is freed-up to "Sell to Open" another PUT. This accelerates the money you gain per week/month because you aren't waiting 3-6 months for the PUT to naturally expire. You rinse and repeat. I hope that helps. Matt's a smart guy, but he doesn't break it down and make it simple to follow.

I don't get it...yes your break even is larger as you've collected larger premium. But the other side of the coin is that the stock goes to 142 in 3 months, it will be put to you...at 145. You may want the stock, but a market at all time highs on all metrics can instantly change your thesis from I'm killing it in a bull market to being forced to cost average down. And theta isn't on your side, so you're just relying on the stock moving up rather than option deterioration (i.e. 30DTE you're gaining 1.5%/day theta from initiation vs 0.1%/day selling the Feb).

With a 1,100 premium the true stock price is at 134 from 145 You wouldn't lose money unless you sold it Why would someone do that when they can just wait If you have money and need for thing then don't trade that money That's the risk: locking your money up
