Pant was lucky when he scored two hundreds 89 , 91, 61 in Australia, hundred in south Africa , two hundreds in England, hundreds and fifties on rank turners....but somehow our classical Batsmen are never this lucky ....These so called gully cricket experts should turn on cricket commentary and listen to mark waugh Gilchrist Brett lee etc and learn something about the game. Never have I seen such an incompetent panel discussing cricket. At the end of the day it doesn't matter if you bat like pujara or jadeja or head or pant...you need to score in all conditions and your numbers should determine if you remain in the team. It doesn't matter if pant gets out caught at boundary or caught at slip like virat. It's his numbers that should be discussed. And don't talk about luck. Every batsman needs luck. Kohli was lucky in first innings as well.

I think this game is long gone. Even with Bumrah, I do not see us winning this game. I think Aus also gonna come with Hit or Miss attitude and they are better equipped for that kinda game.

They play these shots not because they are stupid....but because they know that if they just defend....they won't survive against bumrah or Cummins or Boland. These gully experts saying "this 60 could have cone in 40 balls. Are we in a rush " These people should turn up the volume when the watch rhe match and listen to commentary! If he tries to survive like jadeja or kohli he will not score even 20. He gave you 60 on this pitch! Who the hell are you gully experts trying to tell him how to bat ? He knows that any ball can have his name written on it. That is why he was trying to score as much as he can before he got out. Gill and reddy tried to do the same. Also an average of 28 is bad yes but statistics should not be analysed in isolation. Check the averages of other Indian batsmen. Also he scored important runs when the pitches were very difficult like first innings in perth and two innings in sydney. Even in Adelaide and Melbourne he got starts. While kohli scored a hundred when pitch was flat and didnt do anything after that.

Compare it with other Batsmen during the same period and thrn tell us if his approach works or not. Bowlers other than Bumrah not getting enuf encouragement from the captain and team while fielding. This wasn't the case when Kohli captained, he just says whoever the bowler is, whatever the pace is, 'you are the best bowler and just get the batter'. As Nikhil mentioned the so called 'second string' bowlers need that.

This group missed a biggest analysis factor when it comes to Pant in tests. Usually he comes to bat when the ball gets older due to top order doing all the hard work. That did not happen this series as there is no Pujara or solid opening batters. I am surprised why this was not even mentioned.
