I kept croaking and sparkling together just fine until they started breeding. My sparkling terrorized the croaking even though they are half the size. I moved the sparkling to their own 10g long and then my croaking started to breed. I have 6 but 2 have paired up and had fry pretty much every 3 weeks. They are excellent parents, even the mother defends the fry. I have been removing the fry once they start free swimming and been raising them and it has been a fun experience. The croaking colored up for breeding is very cool to see because it's an unexpected show.

I absolutely love honey gourami but I lost 2 in little over a year so I'm hesitant to get another though they brought life to my 30 gallon and got along great with my cherry barbs and harlequin raspboras. I only have access to one place to get live fish and it's really hit or miss on the quality of what you get (always several dead fish in the tanks). I have bought some fish from there live for years but others only a few months. Recent purchases were only alive a few months so it's been discouraging and my current stock has been doing well and I don't want to mess with things right now. I prefer the yellow over orange but I would kind of like both. Sparkling gourami are also super adorable. I love 'em but not sure I would mix them with my other fish.

My disappearance experience was 3 otos in my 29gallon it was established aquarium with algae put them in within 2 weeks didn't see any and no bigger fish.

FYI…FinDig is and event the Sacramento Aquarium Society (SAS)puts on each year. It is usually in June. It is not huge, but a decent size. Primarily focused on freshwater fish. It also has vendors speakers and a big auction.

Have you ever had a fish ( guppy) recover from ? Swim bladder disease/neurological ? problems. Been treating with salt - have two that are still spinning around ( can’t stay upright ) and swimming vertically

i have 3 powder blue dwarf s in a 125 gal tetra community tank. my problem with them is their shy...I almost never see them.

Pearl gouramis are my favorite gourami as well. Absolutely beautiful coloration. I have a male and female pair. My male is only about 3.5 inches. The female is 3 inches. I keep them with 2 younger neon blue dwarf gouramis and 1 adult sunset thicklipped gourami. They're all kept in a 29 gallon. They're only somewhat aggressive towards one another during feeding but not overly so. Fortunately, they all can hold their own. So I think that leads to less aggression. About the kissing gourami. Ive read they have a very long lifespan for a fish. More than 20 years. Its a long term commitment for a fishkeeper. Maybe thats why they arent sold and distributed as much today? People would probably release them in local waters before they even reach half their expected lifespan. Theyre also massive growing to around 12-15".

Kats Aquatics is awesome. I stumbled upon her site looking for purple mystery snails. She makes great snail food, and when in stock she has some really nice mystery snails. She's also very personable and very nice. Definitely recommend. 🐌

You are correct. The Cosby opaline, gold, and platinum gourami are all colour morphs of the 3 Spot blue gourami. Trichopodus trichopterus

In terms of long lived Gourami. The Minnesota Zoo has had Gus the Giant Gourami since 1996. He's a ham.

Hi! Recently bought a 55 gallon and i was wondering, if it is okay to put white cloud minnows with keyhole cichlids? If not, what would you say is the minimum size for a dither fish with keyholes?

Ya that should work as long as the white clouds are lit small enough to eat. Once full grown it should be fine.

Thanks. Pretty new with an aquarium. One of my guppies has spots (I’m assuming ich). I’m waiting on ich-x to arrive. In the mean time, I got an adjustable heater, thermometer (attached to outside of aquarium) tells me it’s at 80.9 degrees. I added 2 air stones on either side of the aquarium, and added 6 tbsp aquarium salt to 29 gallon planted tank. I am concerned because although only 1 fish has spots, all of the guppies appear to be struggling, so I’m not sure if the ich is affecting them - or is the aquarium too warm for them? They lose color off & on, spend a lot of time at the top of the aquarium near one of the airstones, and I think sometimes their fins aren’t fanning as much as usual. The guppies appear to be the only species struggling. I also have some orange shrimp, 2 panda garras, 2 otocinclus, and some snails. I have been monitoring water parameters - I don’t see anything really outrageously wrong (though pH seems a little higher than usual). I have pictures, don’t see a way to attach them here. Advice is appreciated - thanks so much!
