WHO ARE THESE GUYS? A brief profile of Forestella for the English speakers: ADDENDUM: they are NOT kpop!!! 1) They are a classical crossover group from S. Korea called Forestella (포레스텔라) 2) They were formed in 2017 through a 13-episode televised contest, called Phantom Singer, to find talent and form a classical crossover group. They are the second season winners. 3) Their names going left to right from the viewers perspective: Woorim Ko (고우림), 26 (youngest with that deep voice!) - Operatic Bass, and he was still a student when Forestella formed. Hyungho Kang (강형호), 32 - Tenor/Sopranist. Believe it or not he was a chemical engineer and has no professional training! He has a rock band called PITTA and he's a great fit for this group because he has an insane countertenor voice! Mingyu Cho (조민규), 29 - Operatic Tenor. He's the leader of the group and he was in graduate school when Forestella formed. Doohoon Bae (배두훈), 34 (oldest) - Musical actor with a baritenor range. 4) Like other classical crossover artists, they sing in many languages. Mostly Korean, Italian, English and Spanish, and one song with some Latin. 5) Unlike the US (and maybe some other English speaking countries judging by the comments!) Koreans are overachievers when it comes to foreign languages. Many of them are polyglots. Most of them learn at least a basic level of English as children, but it's a case of use it or lose it. There are private academies specifically for learning languages in Korea. Also, English is not the most common language they learn fluently. Japanese and Chinese would probably be ahead of English. 6) Having said that, the only one who is actually fluent in English is Mingyu Cho. Here's a performance that shows their capabilities. For classical music singers/student , most of songs were written in Italian, French ,Russian and German. And the heaven of musicians or singers now should be China or Japan ? Especially cross over music which is not much popular all over the world . For me if all of members of Forestella or BTS can speak English must be better (for me non - Korean fan) but not be necessary to waste time to do if they have to manage to do many things such as dance practice,rearrange or compose music, exercise for their strong singing organ. ..Sorry , I am not good English enough to explain all what I think.

Forestella has magnetized, pinned, and hammered me to listen to its performances since 2017 until now 2024. I play Forestella performances repeatedly. Please keep up the excellent performances. One reaction blogger from Bangkok said that all other quartets, trios, and boy bands in the world are not even close to Forestella. I agree and Forestella is at the highest level. Its harmony is breathtaking and jaw-dropping. The bass voice of Ko Woo Rim fills up the whole stadium and is captivating. The dramatic baritone voice of Bae Doo Hoon is extremely expressive. The lively tenor voice of Cho Min Gyu is sparkling. The versatile voice of Kang Hyung Ho from incredible baritone to angelic countertenor or soprano is emotionally impressive. Whatever genre Forestella performed, it did not disappoint and made me speechless. For example, Despacito makes me dance and Je Sui Malade makes me cry. Forestella music is therapeutic and great for my heart and soul. Thank you very much Forestella.

it's BECAUSE they are brilliant singers. forestella is a classical crossover quartet not a kpop group. 2 of them are even opera singers. unfortunately classical crossover is very much a niche genre. i also think the fact that they get seen by doing covers can sometimes hamper their growth. people see these covers expecting one thing and then get something else when they hear forestella's own music.
