The RAEME 'tri-colour" stems from the fact that personnel were drawn from the Army Ordnance Corps and the Army Service Corps to form the Corps of Australian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers on 1st December 1942. Ordnance Corps "tac" signs are red and blue and the Service Corps "tac" signs were blue and yellow, these colours were merged to form the RAEME colours. This tri colour is used by the UK, New Zealand, Canada and many other nations who have adopted the EME Corps. As my old RSM told me "many nations, one cap badge"
